Job information

Kain is a Bowman in Maplestory of the Nova faction.

The class uses a new type of weapon, a Whispershot, as his primary weapon, and another new weapon, Weapon Belt, as his secondary weapon.

Kain’s link skill is Time to Prepare, which has the following description: After completing Time to Prepare at least 1 time, then upon either defeating 8 enemies or attacking a boss 5 times, damage increases by 9% (17%) for 20 sec, for every 5 times you’ve stacked Time to Prepare.

The maximum level of this link skill is level 2, and at both levels 1 and 2, it has a cooldown of 40 seconds.

Kain’s legion bonus effect, like most other Bowman classes, is +X Dex (+10, +20, +40, +80. +100)

If you’re looking for a class with lots of damage, AoE for mobbing, and great mobility, then give Kain a try.

Chances are that you’re gonna have a blast training him with his flashy skills.

Be sure to check out our Maplestory training guide to ensure a smooth and fast leveling experience.

Skill build

Upon leveling up and attaining the next job advancement, you get three skill points.

Kain has quite a lot of skills, so what is the best way to build your skills?

In the following, we give you our take on the best skill build for Kain.

Like many of the newer classes in Maplestory, Kain gets enough skill points to max out his skills every single job advancement.

Therefore, you cannot do something wrong in terms of using skill points.

The only thing you can do is slow down your leveling a bit by putting skill points into the wrong skills.

However, once you reach the next job advancement, you’ll have maxed out every single skill, at which point it won’t matter what skill you maxed out first.

In the following skill builds for each job, we give you the number of skill points you should put into skills and then what skills you should max in order.

For example, in the 1st job skill build for Kain, you should put 1 skill point in Strike Arrow, Shadow Swiftness, and Grappling Wire at level 10 (when you get your three skill points from the job advancement).

At level 11, you should put 1 skill point in Shadow Step, Assassin, and Ghost walk.

From then on, you should put all your skill points in the skills listed with Max next to them in order (in the first job, you should max Shadow Swiftness first, then Assassin, and so on.

If we’ve listed two skills in the same priority for maxing, like we’ve done with Shadow Step and Grappling Wire in the 1st job skill build, it doesn’t matter which of the two you max first or whether or not you choose to put points in both at the same time.

1st job skill build

In the first job, you unlock your main attack skill, Strike Arrow, which you’ll use for the rest of the game, with upgrades later on, though.

You also unlock your main mobility skills, Shadow Swiftness and Grappling Wire.

The rest of your skills are passive buffs and one other mobility skill.

  • 1 Strike Arrow, 1 Shadow Swiftness, 1 Grappling Wire
  • 1 Shadow Step, 1 Assassin, 1 Ghost Walk
  • Max Shadow Swiftness
  • Max Assassin
  • Max Ghost Walk
  • Max Strike Arrow
  • Max Shadow Step/Grappling Wire

2nd job skill build

In the second job, you unlock an upgrade to Strike Arrow as well as a passive (toggle-on) skill, Dragon Fang, that helps you farm faster by summoning small fangs that automatically target and attack enemies.

You also unlock Whispershot Booster after putting 5 points into Whispershot Mastery, which increases your attack speed, significantly increasing your damage output.

Kain’s gauge system is also unlocked at 2nd job, which enables you to enter possessed state where you can use Posses versions of some of your skills, making them stronger.

The gauge system is unlocked through the skill Possession, which automatically is maxed out for you upon getting the second job.

  • 1 Strike Arrow II, 1 Dragon Fang, 1 Scattering Shot
  • 3 Whispershot Mastery
  • 2 Whispershot Mastery, 1 Whispershot Booster
  • 2 Whispershot Booster, 1 Whispershot Mastery
  • Max Whispershot mastery
  • Max Physical Training
  • Max Dragon Fang
  • Max Strike Arrow II
  • Max Scattering Shot
  • Max Whispershot Booster

3rd job skill build

In the third job, you once again unlock an upgrade to Strike Arrow.

You also unlock the next major skill system for Kain, execute skills.

When using skills on enemies, you start placing marks on them because of the Death’s Blessing skill.

Enemies and bosses marked by this skill can be attacked with the new type of skills you unlock in the third job, Execute skills.

Execute skills are more powerful than regular skills and are great for bossing.

Using an execute skill on a marked enemy causes the mark to materialize, dealing extra damage and giving you a short-duration buff.

  • 1 Death’s Blessing, 1 [Execute] Tearing Knife, 1 Strike Arrow III
  • 1 [Execute] Phantom Blade, 1 Shaft Break, 1 Lasting Grudge
  • Max Natural Born Instinct
  • Max Grinding
  • Max Lasting Grudge
  • Max Strike Arrow III
  • Max Death’s Blessing
  • Max [Execute] Tearing Knife
  • Max Shaft Break
  • Max [Execute] Phantom Blade

4th job skill build

In the fourth job, you’re given access to upgrades to previous skills and both the Malice gauge system and Death’s Blessing.

You’re also given a couple of new skills, of which the Execute skills are the more interesting.

Dragon Scale, which gives you invincibility for up to 3.4 seconds, is also given at the 4th job, which is a useful skill against bosses.

If you see that you can’t make it out of a lethal attack from a boss, you can use Dragon Scale to keep yourself alive.

Other than that, you’re mostly just given more passive buffs in the fourth job advancement.

  • 1, Advanced Death’s Blessing, 1 Falling Dust, 1 [Execute] Poison Needle
  • 1 [Execute] Chain Sickle, 1 Dragon Scale, 1 Whispershot Expert
  • 1 Grinding II, 1 Nova Temperance, 1 Whispershot Expert
  • Max Whispershot Expert
  • Max Grinding II
  • Max Dogma
  • Max Adapt to Death
  • Max Advanced Death’s Blessing
  • Max Nova Warrior
  • Max [Execute] Poison Needle
  • Max [Execute] Chain Sickle
  • Max Falling Dust
  • Max Dragon Scale
  • Max Nova Temperance

Hyper skill build

Like with any other job in Maplestory, you should put the hyper skill point you get at each level you unlock an active skill into that one.

The active hyper skills do not share the same skill points as hyper passive skills.

Therefore, we are only listing the hyper passive skills that you should put your skill points into (in the passive tab of hyper skills).

Because some of the hyper passive skills that you want to put a skill point into aren’t unlocked at level 140 (the level that you unlock hyper skills and stats), we’re listing the hyper passive skills in the order of the levels at which you gain a new hyper passive skill point and what skill you should use it on at that level.

  • 1 Whispershot Guardbreak (Level 140)
  • 1 Whispershot Reinforce (Level 160)
  • 1 Whispershot Boss Rush (Level 180)
  • 1 Execute Guardbreak (Level 190)
  • 1 Execute Reinforce (Level 200)

5th job (Nodes) skill build

In the fifth job, Kain gets access to a range of passive skills that improve the damage of skills unlocked in earlier job advancement.

However, Kain also gets access to four powerful active skills exclusive to Kain.

Like every other job in Maplestory, Kain also gets access to skills and buffs available for other jobs of the Bowman class.

It’s difficult to give an exact best skill build for the 5th job of Kain, as it depends on the situation.

Also, the higher level you reach, the more node slots you’ll unlock, making it easier for you to gain all the skills and buffs you want to use.

You want to focus on the following skills in no particular order:

  • Strike Arrow/Chasing Shot Boost (Passive)
  • Dragon Fang/Lasting Grudge Boost (Passive)
  • Death’s Blessing/Unseen Sniper Boost (Passive)
  • Chain Sickle/Poison Needle Boost (Passive)
  • [Possess] Dragon Burst (Active)
  • Thanatos Descent (Active)
  • Grip of Agony (Active)
  • [Execute] Fatal Blitz (Active)

Other great skills not exclusive to Kain that you also want to focus on include:

  • Decent Holy Symbol (Buff)
  • Decent Speed Infusion (Buff)
  • Decent Combat Orders (Buff)
  • Decent Sharp Eyes (Buff)
  • Vicious Shot (Buff)
  • Erda Nova (Bind)
  • Rope Lift (Mobility)
  • Guided Arrow (Active)

According to the Kain discord, the three perfect trio nodes you should aim for are:

  • Death’s Blessing/Unseen Sniper Boost, Strike Arrow/Chasing Shot Boost, Dragon Fang/Lasting Grudge Boost (Primary)
  • Scattering Shot Boost, Falling Dust Boost, Shaft Break Boost (Mobbing)
  • Chain Sickle/Poison Needle Boost, Phantom Blade/Tearing Knife Boost, Any useful node (Bossing)

Source.

How to spend ability points

Kain is a job that belongs to the bowman class, which means that Kain’s primary stat is DEX (Dexterity).

Unlike at the beginning of Maplestory, you now no longer need to put ability points into any other stat than your primary one.

Because of this, you should put all of your ability points into DEX when playing as a Kain.

If you use the auto-assign feature, you’ll also notice that it recommends putting all your ability points into DEX.

No equipment that you’ll be using throughout the game requires you to have a specific value in another stat.

Therefore, using all your ability points on the stat that increases your damage the most is the best and only viable way to spend your ability points.

Possess skills ignore both cooldown and ammunition limit, though a Possess skill will go into cooldown after use. Possession can't be used while in a Possessed state. If you use this skill while in the middle of using an attack skill, you can be in a Possessed state without the casting action of Possession.
While Possessed, you can control the Malice that results from a Strike Arrow.

Best inner ability

Kain can reach the attack speed cap in GMS without the need for an attack speed inner ability line.

Furthermore, Kain’s kit doesn’t benefit a lot from cooldown reduction, so don’t go for that either.

Instead, the best inner ability for Kain is:

  • 20% Boss Damage
  • 20% Critical Rate
  • 8% Abnormal Damage

Other inner abilities that are great for Kain if you don’t have the resources to keep resetting your inner ability include % Attack, flat Attack, Mesos Obtained (Reboot only for farming while training), and Drop Rate, also for farming.

Cash Shop sharing

Being a Bowman of the Nova faction, Kain shares his Cash Shop inventory with the other Jobs from the Nova faction.

Specifically, Kain shares his Cash Shop inventory with:

  • Kaiser
  • Cadena
  • Angelic Buster

You can transfer any Cash Item you can put into the Cash Shop between the characters of these jobs.

That’s everything you need to know about the Kain job in Maplestory!

Maplestory – Reboot Meso Farming Guide 2024 https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-reboot-meso-farming-guide/ https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-reboot-meso-farming-guide/#respond Sat, 27 Mar 2021 23:26:38 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=16102 On the Reboot server of Maplestory, everything revolves around mesos.

You need mesos to star force enhance your equipment and to purchase cubes – two of the main ways to increase your damage on Reboot.

Recommended Read: Best Link Skills to Use in Maplestory

Upgrades that cost NX on regular servers cost mesos instead on Reboot, making them vital if you wish to progress.

Given the importance of mesos on Reboot, you need to farm a bunch if you wish to make your character strong enough to take on the toughest bosses in the game.

In this guide, we give you all the information you need on meso farming on the Reboot server, both for early on in the game and for late game.

Table of contents

General meso farming tips

Made as a way for players to experience gameplay closer to the original Maplestory, a lot of features were removed or changed on the Reboot server.

Most notably, mesos replace the cost of many cash-only items like Red and Black cubes, scrolling or spell tracing is disabled, and monsters have more HP but give more EXP and drop more mesos.

Another important difference between regular servers and the Reboot server is that you cannot trade with other players on Reboot.

These changes create an environment where contrary to regular servers, farming mesos becomes the main way to obtain them.

Many of the often-used meso making methods on regular servers require trading with and selling to other players, which you cannot do on Reboot.

Though farming mesos seems quite straightforward, there are some things you can do to significantly increase the number of mesos you get per hour.

Getting your mesos obtained stat and drop rate up is essential if you wish to improve your meso farming.

Here are the different things that can give you the mesos obtained buff:

  • Equipment (potential lines)
  • Inner Ability
  • Legion Grid
  • Useable Buffs

You can get a maximum of +100% Mesos Obtained from equipment, +20% Mesos Obtained from Inner Ability, +5% Mesos Obtained from the Legion Grid.

This means that you can get a maximum of +125% mesos obtained from passive buffs and boosts, but you can further increase your mesos obtained with useable buffs and when events are active.

There is a maximum cap on Mesos Obtained, though, which is set at +300% Mesos Obtained, no matter the combination of buffs, passives, and events.

You can get +% drop rate from potential on accessories. Getting to +67% drop rate guarantees that you get a meso pouch from each enemy that you defeat, greatly increasing your meso yield.

The higher your +% drop rate is, the higher the chance that you’ll get a meso pouch from an enemy, but it’s first at 67% that you are guaranteed one. You can check your current drop rate in the character stats window.

Farming mesos without a pet is almost impossible, as there are too many meso bags to pick up. The reboot server now also has VAC pets, known as Petite Luna Pets, which pull drops around it towards it, making it loot even faster than a regular pet.

We strongly recommend that you get yourself a pet, or your mesos earned per hour will drop by around 90%, depending on how many mobs you defeat per hour. Getting a VAC pet will increase your mesos earned per hour even further.

You can either purchase a pet from the Cash Shop with NX, get one from Hard Hilla if you are strong enough, or can find a carry.

Alternatively, you can sell mesos for NX on the meso market on regular servers and then buy one from the Cash Shop.

Having more than one pet will also increase the number of mesos you farm per hour, but from one to two or three pets will far from increase your mesos earned per hour as much as from zero to one pet will. If you are considering multiple regular pets or one VAC pet, we recommend getting one VAC pet.

With changes made to the game, the Kanna class, which used to be the best farming class in the game by far, no longer holds that title, given the removal of its Kishin skill, which increased the spawn rate of mobs.

It is, therefore, now recommended that you use your main character on the Reboot server to farm mesos, as that will likely yield you better results than creating a new dedicated farming class. If you still want to create a dedicated farming class, classes like Shadower with marks (projectiles that appear and automatically attack enemies on the map when you attack) are among the best farmers. However, the difference between the different classes’ farming capabilities is far from as big as it was when Kanna still had Kishin.

The most important thing is that you have a very high-level character. The higher level, the better, as you need to be able to one-shot the mobs you are farming to achieve the best results.

Using the battle analysis tool in the game is a great way to check and optimize your meso farming efforts.

With the battle analysis tool, you can test out different meso farming setups, maps, etc., until you find the combination that yields the most mesos per hour for you.

Getting drop rate to 67%

When you defeat mobs in Maplestory, there is a chance that it will drop mesos (a meso pouch at higher levels, coins and bundles at earlier levels).

To maximize the meso you can farm per hour, you want to increase your drop rate, as this also affects the probability of a mob dropping mesos.

By default, mobs only have a 60% chance to drop meso pouches.

You can increase this probability to 100% by having enough additional drop rate stat on your character. To make this happen, you need to have minimum +67% drop rate.

Increased drop rate stat can be obtained from potential on accessories and familiars.

Once you reach at least +67% drop rate, every mob you defeat will drop a meso pouch, which is essential if you want to farm as many mesos as possible per hour.

How to get Mesos Obtained

Increasing your Mesos Obtained stat is essential if you want to maximize how many mesos you can farm per hour.

You can get passive +% Mesos Obtained boosts, which means they are active all the time, from equipment, the Legion Grid, and Inner Ability.

From equipment, you can get a maximum of +100% Mesos Obtained.

The types of equipment that can give +% Mesos Obtained through their potential include Pendants, Rings, Earrings, Face accessories, and Eye accessories.

Some of the best items in this category that can give +% Mesos Obtained and are of high enough level to give maximum potential stats are Gollux Rings, Sweetwater Tattoo, and Sweetwater Glasses.

You will be using these items for a very long time in the game, if not forever, so you can safely pour resources into them without the worry of having to replace them soon.

For the other types of equipment, just find items that are over level 71, as the maximum of +20% Mesos Obtained can be obtained on an item’s potential.

If you can find items that are over level 151, that is, of course, better, as the rest of the potential lines can be of higher values.

An item has to be of legendary rarity before the +% Mesos Obtained line can be rolled on their potential.

As mentioned, the cap of +% Mesos Obtained from equipment is +100%, so don’t keep cubing for more on other items if you already have +100%.

The +% Mesos Obtained boost can also be obtained from the Legion System in Maplestory by placing the Phantom piece on your Legion Grid.

If you aren’t familiar with the legion system, then check out our Comprehensive Legion System Guide.

The Phantom class gives + 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% Mesos Obtained as their effect bonus as ranks B, A, S, SS, and SSS.

We don’t recommend leveling a Phantom all the way to level 250 just to get the SSS rank, but if you can manage, level 200 for SS would be helpful.

Inner ability can give +20% Mesos Obtained from the first line if it is of Legendary rarity, +15% if it’s Unique, +10% if it’s Epic, and +5% if it’s Rare.

When just starting to increase your Mesos Obtained, we recommend just resetting your inner ability until you get a +% Mesos Obtained line that is at least Epic.

If you manage to roll a Unique or Legendary Mesos Obtained line before an epic one, that’s great, but you’ll probably find an Epic one before that happens.

The reason why you don’t want to go for a Unique or Legendary Mesos Obtained line yet is because it can be very costly in terms of mesos that you should use to cube instead.

Later on, when you have a lot of mesos and can farm a lot of mesos quickly, start going for the Legendary inner ability Mesos Obtained line.

Your Mesos Obtained can also be increased by using active useable buffs.

The most common buffs that boost your Mesos Obtained are Legion Wealth Buffs, Wealth Acquisition Potions, and event buffs.

  • Legion Wealth Buffs increase Mesos Obtained by 50% and can be purchased with Legion Coins in the Legion Shop.
  • Wealth Acquisition Points increase Mesos Obtained by 20% and can be crafted through the Alchemy profession.
  • Event buffs that increase Mesos Obtained are not included in every event, but they have been a couple of times, including the Rainbow Spectrum Buff that gave +100% Mesos Obtained. So be sure to check current events and their shops.

Using these buffs, you can get your total Mesos Obtained rate above the +125% you can obtain passively.

The total maximum Mesos Obtained boost you can obtain is capped at +300%, though.

Having additional +% Drop Rate from equipment and buffs will further increase your mesos earned per hour, as more items and equips that you can sell will drop.

Bossing and Ursus

There are tons of bosses you can defeat every single day and some every week, each of which will yield a decent amount of mesos. If you don’t want to farm mesos for hours, doing bosses alone can yield you a great number of mesos.

From bosses, you will get both Intense Power Crystals, equipment, potions, etc items, and pure mesos.

If you are a regular player who can solo most daily bosses, you can make around 100-200m a day from them.

You can also choose to extract the equipment you get from bosses and sell the etc items you get – philosopher’s stones sell for a lot.

Intense Power Crystals have to be sold at the Collector located in the Free Market.

The rest of the items can be sold to any vendor in the game.

You can, however, only sell up to 60 Intense Power Crystals to the Collector every week, so if you farm all weekly and daily bosses throughout an entire week, you’ll get more Intense Power Crystals than you can sell.

Therefore, if you wish to maximize the amount of mesos you earn, you should prioritize selling the Intense Power Crystals that give the most mesos.

In the chart below, you can see a complete overview of the bosses you can farm as well as how much their Intense Power Crystal sells for.

All weekly bosses, and of course, Black Mage, the only monthly boss, have the Intense Power Crystals that sell for the most.

Therefore, you should sell the Intense Power Crystal of every weekly boss that you can defeat each week, and then sell the Intense Power Crystal with the highest price of daily bosses you can defeat.

Ursus, who is technically also a boss, but not like the ones listed above, also offers a great way to earn some mesos on the Reboot server.

Every single day, you can challenge Ursus three times by selecting Ursus the Mighty in the Dimensional Mirror.

In the Ursus lobby, you can just choose quick start through Masarayu, which will queue you up for a party with up to 17 other random players.

Against Ursus, you need to deal as much damage as possible.

The more damage you deal, the more mesos you get as a reward.

Best map to farm mesos in Maplestory

The best way to farm mesos on the Reboot server in Maplestory is to use your high-level main character against high-level enemies in the Arcane River with as many meso-boosting traits as possible.

To achieve the highest amounts of mesos per hour from farming mobs, you need to meet a couple of requirements.

Firstly, you need to be high level. Level 230+ is optimal, but at least level 200 is required as you want to farm in the Arcane River.

The best maps for farming are in the Arcane River, with the single best map being Last Horizon 6 in Moonbridge. Anther great map includes Labyrinth of Suffering Core 6 in Tenebris.

No matter what level you are at, you need to find a map where you can one-shot mobs or at least almost instantly kill mobs.

Some other specific meso-farming maps that work well for players at levels 225-250 include:

  • Arcana: Deep in the Cavern – Lower Path 1
  • Arcana: Deep in the Cavern – Upper Path 1
  • Limina: End of the World 1-5
  • Limina: End of the World 2-5

Most of the mesos you’ll earn from this method are pure meso drops, but you’ll also get a significant part from item drops, including spell traces, equipment, and other etc items that you can sell, as well as nodes and familiars.

This means that you can further increase the mesos you earn per hour by getting a higher Drop Rate if you have already acquired the highest Mesos Obtained you can get.

Having a powerful soul like the Lucid weapon soul will help you increase your mesos per hour further, as you can place it to take out monsters in a place on the map where it’s hard to reach or beneficial to keep out of your rotation.

You want to find a setup and rotation on a map that enables you to take clear out as many mobs as possible as fast as possible.

Be sure to use the in-game battle analysis tool to measure how many mesos you farm per hour.

You can use this data to optimize your setup, find new maps, and in the end, get more mesos per hour.

Alternative meso farming methods

There are a couple of other ways to farm a decent amount of mesos on Reboot in Maplestory than the ones listed earlier in this guide.

Maple Tour

Maple Tour is a system you can access through the Dimensional Mirror, where you fight levels of mobs.

You can enter twice a day for free and purchase additional entrances up to a total of seven daily entrances.

Doing runs in Maple Tour earns you mesos that you can claim from Lulu Spinel.

The mesos you earn from a run are not given instantly but instead kept as a wage for seven days.

After seven days, you can collect the full amount of mesos.

If you choose to claim it before the seven days, you will only receive half the amount, so you should always wait the seven days.

Maple Tour has been nerfed by Nexon, so it doesn’t give as many mesos as it used to, but it’s still a great way to get extra mesos on Reboot, especially if you don’t have a strong meso farming character.

Silent Crusade coins

When bossing in Maplestory, you’ll quickly get a bunch of Crusader Coins.

Most bosses in the game drop them, and you can only use them in one place, the Silent Crusade shop.

One of the things you can purchase in the Silent Crusade shop is meso bags that contain a random amount of mesos up to 5m per bag.

You can also complete Silent Crusade quests to get more Crusader Coins, but it’s not recommended as a way to earn mesos.

Spending your Crusader Coins on meso bags is a nice way to increase the amount of mesos you earn from bossing.

Maplestory – Familiar System Guide https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-familiar-system-guide/ https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-familiar-system-guide/#respond Mon, 08 Mar 2021 22:13:57 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=14127 Familiars in Maplestory can give you a hefty damage boost while accompanying you in battle.

The Familiar system is now quite different from what it used to be, so some players find it overwhelming, as it now comes with a lot more features.

Recommended Read: Maplestory – Legion System Guide

In this guide, we give you all the information you need to know about the Familiar system in Maplestory.

Table of contents

What is the familiar system

The familiar system is a system in Maplestory that allows you to collect cards from monsters, summon them, and obtain useful stat boosts.

Familiars are the monsters you can summon by collecting their cards dropped from the monsters themselves.

Familiars come in five ranks from Common to Legendary.

What rank a familiar is determines the lines of its potential.

When you’ve fully unlocked your familiar summon gauge, you can summon three familiars at a time.

Familiars have up to two potential lines, which means you can have up to six potential lines from your familiars.

These potential lines can give powerful and useful buffs, including Ignore Enemy Defense and Mesos Obtained.

Besides the boosts from the familiars themselves, you can also gain stat boosts from the familiar system by collecting badges.

Badges are collections of specific familiar cards that give you pre-determined boosts when equipped in your badge collection.

To obtain better boosts from your familiars, you need to collect a lot of familiar cards, extract cards, and fuse cards.

You can train your familiars to higher levels by using them while you fight monsters around the Maple World.

Given the boosts you can obtain from the familiar system, we recommend that you aim to build a strong set of familiars and badges.

How to summon familiars

Before you can summon familiars, you need to obtain familiar cards and use them in the ‘USE’ tab of your inventory.

Once you’ve used a familiar card, it will be added to your familiar collection, and you can now add it to your familiar setup.

To access your familiar setup and the rest of the familiar system, you can either click Roro the Familiar Manager in the bottom left corner of your equipment inventory or use the hotkey ‘N’, or what key it might be set to in your key binding options.

Now that you have opened the familiar system window go to the Setup tab.

On the right side, you will see all the familiar cards that you have activated.

To add a familiar card to your familiar setup, click it and drag it into one of the setup-slots or double click it, then click Save at the bottom.

With a familiar added to your familiar setup, you are now ready to summon it.

To summon familiars, open the Skill menu, go to the beginner skills tab, and use the skill Summon Familiars.

This skill will summon all the familiars in your current familiar setup.

If you haven’t added any familiars to your setup, then you will not have this skill in your beginner skills tab.

So, if you don’t see this skill, it means that you haven’t added any familiars to your setup or that you have forgotten to press Save after adding familiars to your setup.

How to unlock second and third familiar slots

In the beginning, you will only have one familiar slot unlocked, but you can unlock two more.

To unlock the second familiar slot, you have to collect one familiar badge.

Once you have collected a familiar badge, click the black square icon on the left side of the screen under the reward points icon.

You can talk to Roro, the familiar system manager, through this icon.

If you haven’t clicked this icon before, you have to go through some initial dialog.

After going through the dialog, you can see your familiar quests through the icon.

If you have one or more badges collected, you will see a quest called ‘Roro’s First Update’, which unlocks the second familiar slot upon completion.

All you have to do to complete the quest is go through some dialog.

When you have collected 10 or more badges, you can unlock the third familiar slot through the same icon.

You can learn how to unlock badges in the familiar system later in this guide.

The Summon Gauge

At the bottom of the Overview tab in the familiar window, you’ll find the Summon Gauge.

The Summon Gauge determines how long you can keep your familiars summoned.

When the Summon Gauge goes to zero, your familiars are de-summoned and cannot be summoned until you have energy in your Summon Gauge again.

The higher the total defenses of your familiars in your setup, the slower the Summon Gauge will deplete.

Therefore, having three familiars in your setup will make you deplete the energy in your Summon Gauge at a slower pace.

Your Summon Gauge is reset back to full energy every day at server-time reset.

You can also regain energy in the Summon Gauge by purchasing Familiar Essence from the familiar shop.

Familiar Essence costs 300 Familiar Points and recharges 50% of the Summon Gauge’s energy upon use.

Familiar potentials

The buffs that you get from your summoned familiars are determined by the potential lines of the individual familiars you’ve put in your setup.

You can roll many useful potential lines on your familiars, so it’s worth collecting a lot to get the best ones.

Here is a list of some of the best potential lines you can get on your familiars:

For bossing

  • Ignore Enemy Defense
  • ATT/MATT
  • Boss Damage
  • Critical Damage

For farming

  • Item Drop Rate
  • Mesos Obtained

The higher the rank of the familiar, the higher the tier of their potential, which results in greater potential values.

The higher the level of your familiar, the higher the stats of the familiar, which enables you to summon them for longer.

This means that if you get a familiar with a great potential, you should level it up to get the greatest possible boost from it.

How to unlock familiars’ potential

To get a potential on familiars, open the familiar system window, and go to the Collection tab.

On the right side, under the Info tab, you can choose any familiar that you have activated by using their card.

The selected familiar will appear on the left side, displaying its info.

Right under the animation of the familiar, you’ll see a question mark.

To unlock the potential of that familiar, press the question mark, and click OK.

Up to two lines of potential will then be rolled for that familiar.

Unlocking the potential of a familiar costs 35,000 mesos.

Fusing and ranking up familiars

To rank up familiars to their next tier in Maplestory, you need to fuse them with copies of the same monster.

Familiars also need to be at least level 5 before you can rank them up.

When you fuse familiars, you sacrifice copies of the same monster to give rank-up points to the selected familiar.

To give rank-up points to a familiar, go to the Collection tab in the familiar window, select the Fusion tab, and choose the familiar you wish to rank up.

The selected familiar will appear on the left side, where it will show you how many rank-up points it currently has as well as how many points it needs to be ranked up.

While a familiar is selected for fusion, only copies of that same monster will be visible on the right side.

You can choose the copies of the same monster you wish to sacrifice for fusing on the right side, or you can use the Select All button, which will automatically put all available copies into the fusion window until the rank-up points bar is full.

Click Fuse when you are happy with your selection of copies to fuse, and the selected familiar will be given the corresponding rank-up points.

The rank of the copies selected for fusion determines how many rank-up points the selected familiar gets.

Here is an overview of how many rank-up points each copy gives based on their rank:

  • Common rank = 1 rank up point per copy
  • Rare rank = 2 rank-up points per copy
  • Epic rank = 3 rank-up points per copy
  • Unique rank = 4 rank-up points per copy
  • Legendary rank = 5 rank-up points per copy

When a familiar has reached the required number of rank-up points and is at least level 5, you can rank it up by clicking the Rank Up button when the familiar is selected in the Fusion window under the Collection Tab.

The chance of the familiar ranking up to the next rank is not guaranteed at each rank, and the number of rank-up points the familiar needs before you can try to rank it up increases the higher its rank.

Here is an overview of how many rank-up points you need to give a familiar at each rank before you can try to rank it up as well as the chance of it ranking up.

RankRank-up pointsChance to rank up
Common to Rare50100%
Rare to Epic10080%
Epic to Unique15040%

Ranking up a familiar resets both its ATT + DEF stats as well as its potential lines.

On Reboot it’s much more difficult to rank up familiars to Unique manually as you need to collect tons of copies yourself.

On the normal servers, you can purchase a bunch of copies of some monsters that are often farmed by players for cheap on the auction house.

How to get legendary familiars

You cannot fuse and rank up familiars to the Legendary rank in Maplestory.

Familiars can only be fused and ranked up to the Unique rank.

Furthermore, legendary familiars cannot be obtained on the Reboot server, only on normal servers, as the item required to get them is not available on Reboot.

The only way to get legendary rank familiars in the game is by using Red Familiar Cards.

Red Familiar Cards are sold in the Cash Shop for 1,200 NX each.

You can reset the potential of a familiar by using a Red Familiar Card.

When you reset the potential of a familiar with a Red Familiar Card, there is also a small chance that the potential of that familiar increases to Legendary rank.

Familiar levels and rarities

Familiars start at level 1 when you use their card.

You can level up a familiar by defeating monsters around your level while it is summoned.

When you defeat one monster around your level, the familiars that you have summoned earn 1 EXP.

Here you can see an overview of how much EXP a familiar needs at each level to level up to the next one.

LevelEXP requirement
1 to 2300
2 to 3600
3 to 41,200
4 to 52,400
5 to 6*2,900
6 to 7*2,800

*By default, familiars can only level up to level 5, but with the use of the Familiar Breakthrough Card, familiars can reach level 7.

The Familiar Breakthrough Card is only sold in the Cash Shop for 5,900 NX on normal servers.

This means that you cannot level up your familiars further than level 5 on the Reboot server.

The higher the level of your familiar, the higher its ATT/DEF stats are.

Therefore, leveling up a familiar that has great potential you wish to use is a great idea, as it will give it greater stats and can thereby be summoned for longer.

All familiars are one of five rarities, also known as ranks:

  • Common
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Unique
  • Legendary

The higher the rank of the familiar, the greater the values of their potential lines can be.

Therefore, getting a high-ranked familiar with a great potential line is, of course, the best.

However, as you most likely need to unveil many familiars’ potential before you get good lines, it’s unlikely that you’re going to end up using a familiar better than Epic rank.

Unless you are very lucky, it’s going to require too many copies of the same familiar to get enough unique copies to roll good potential lines, which is why many players use either common or rare familiars for a very long time.

It is much easier to get a high-rank familiar with great potential on normal servers, though, as you can both purchase copies from the auction house and buy Red Familiar Cards in the Cash Shop there.

Monsters can drop both common, rare, epic, and unique versions of their familiar cards directly.

Getting a unique familiar card directly from a drop is, however, very unlikely, while getting an epic familiar card directly from a drop is very plausible from some monsters.

This is because certain monsters have a higher chance than others to drop the epic version of their familiar card directly.

Familiars of higher rank also give more rank-up points per copy when used as a sacrifice for fusing and can have better ATT and DEF stats.

Badge effects

The second type of stat boost you can get from the familiar system is badge effects.

Badge effects are stat boosts you get from equipping badges in the familiar system.

You obtain badges by collecting all the familiars in a specific badge.

Even if you choose to sacrifice or extract a familiar card, it will still count in any badge it is included in.

This means that you do not have to have keep cards in your familiar card collection after you have used them.

Just using the card is enough when you are gathering and using cards to obtain badges.

You can choose up to 8 badges to equip at once in the familiar system.

To equip a badge, open the familiar window, go to Badges, and either drag a badge into a slot or double click a badge.

You will get the badge effects from every badge you have equipped, which means you’ll get some significant stat boosts by having 8 great badges equipped at once.

Here is a complete overview of all badges you can obtain as well as the effects each one gives.

You want to build towards the badges that give you ATT/MATT and Ignore Monster DEF, but those are often harder to obtain.

Therefore, we recommend starting out by collecting some of the easier to obtain badges, so you can unlock your three familiar slots.

How to unlock badges

You unlock badges in the familiar system of Maplestory by collecting all the familiar cards within a specific badge.

By opening the familiar window, going to Badges, and then selecting List, you can see all badges you can obtain.

To see what familiar cards you need to collect to unlock a specific badge, just click it and look at the cards at the bottom of the window.

You don’t have to keep the cards you need for badges in your collection. Just using the card will add it to the badge, and it will stay as collected even if you sacrifice the card or extract it.

How to get familiars

There are several ways to get familiar cards, which become familiars upon use, in Maplestory.

The main way to get familiar cards is by obtaining them from monster drops.

Using equipment and buffs that boost your item drop rate will help you significantly in farming for familiars.

Every day you can also purchase Roro’s Familiar Booster Pack Coupon in the Familiar shop for 2,000 familiar points, which gives you three random familiars.

You can purchase Roro’s Familiar Booster Pack Coupon on both Reboot and normal servers.

On the Reboot server, you will get the vast majority of your familiar cards from farming.

Copies of some monsters can also be purchased in abundance on the auction house on normal servers, so most players on normal servers obtain the majority of their familiar cards by purchasing them.

The last way to get familiars is by purchasing booster packs with NX in the Cash Shop, which can only be done on the normal servers.

Best familiars to farm

Right after the revamp of the familiar system, some monsters, including Jr. Boogies, had an abnormally high familiar drop chance of epic rarity.

Now, however, Nexon has balanced the drop rate of familiars, so many monsters have a similar drop chance of the different ranks of their familiar cards.

Furthermore, because the stat boosts you get from familiars in this revamped system depend on the potential of the familiar and not the monster, there is no specific monster you have to use as a familiar.

Instead, the best familiars to farm are the ones that you can farm a lot of quickly and that have a decent familiar drop chance.

In other words, you want to farm the monsters that give you the largest number of familiar cards per hour.

For most players, this will be in the Arcane River with their farming Kanna at level 205+.

You can, of course, farm familiars with any class at any level, but doing it at 205+ with a Kanna will, in most cases, yield the highest number of familiars per hour.

Therefore, we recommend you go around and check out maps around your level and test out how many familiars you can farm per hour.

The map that yields the highest number per hour for you will be the best map and thereby the best monsters to farm for familiars.

On the normal servers, you do not have this problem as mentioned, as you can simply buy a bunch of familiars on the auction house.

How to get familiar points

You need familiar points to purchase items in the familiar shop.

The only way to get familiar points in Maplestory is by extracting familiars in the familiar window.

You can extract a familiar by opening the familiar window, going to the Collection tab, selecting Extraction, and then choosing the familiars you wish to extract.

You can use the Select All button right below the Extraction tab to quickly select all familiars in your collection that you haven’t put into your setup.

Do be careful here that you don’t accidentally extract a familiar you want to use.

Once you’re happy with your selection, click Extract at the bottom, and you’ll get familiar points based on the number of familiars you’ve sacrificed and their ranks.

Here is an overview of how many familiar points you get per familiar based on their rank.

RankFamiliar points
Common10 per copy
Rare15 per copy
Epic30 per copy
Unique40 per copy
Legendary50 per copy

If you are on a regular server, we don’t recommend extracting familiars of unique or legendary rarity, as their potential can be reset using Red Familiar Cards.

Familiar shop

The familiar shop is where you can spend your familiar points on items related to the familiar system.

You can access the familiar shop by opening the familiar window and pressing Shop.

There are only five different things you can purchase in the Familiar Shop.

Having a powerful Legion in the game will not only increase the power of your characters significantly but also make you earn useful items.

In this guide, we give you all the information you need about the Legion System as well as how to build a strong Legion.

Table of contents

What is the Legion System

The Legion System in Maplestory is an unlockable feature that allows you to create a Legion of characters that will boost the stats as well as buff all characters on the same server on your account.

The Legion buffs you obtain are determined based on the composition of characters in your Legion.

You get stats boosts both from the characters you put in your Legion from the squares that you cover in the Legion Synergy Grid with character grid pieces.

The two boosts are known as Member Bonuses and Grid Bonuses, while the total buff from your Legion is known as Legion Bonuses.

Placing higher-ranked characters in your Legion will give both greater stat bonuses from the individual characters and allow you to cover more squares in the Legion Grid.

This is because higher-ranked characters have bigger Legion grid pieces, meaning they can cover more squares – giving you even greater Legion bonuses.

Having a strong Legion can of great help in the game as it will significantly increase the power of all your characters on the same server.

At the beginning of a new character, having a strong Legion also comes in handy as it will make you level up faster because of both greater damage and, in some cases, EXP buffs.

The characters you assign to your Legion are known as attackers.

These are the ones that determine the bonuses and effects you get from your Legion.

You can make up to five Legion presets at a time that you can instantly switch between.

Only two presets are unlocked by default. More can be unlocked for 30 days with the Legion Preset Coupon from the Legion Shop.

Furthermore, these attackers will passively farm Legion Coins for you, which you can use to upgrade your Legion and buy useful items.

Given all the benefits of the Legion System, it’s definitely something you should put some time into.

How to unlock the Legion System

Before you can unlock the Legion System in Maplestory, you need to have a minimum of 500 cumulative Legion-eligible character levels on the same server.

A Legion-eligible character is one that is at least level 60 and has completed the second job advancement.

For the Zero class, the character has to be at least level 130 to be Legion-eligible.

Once you have a minimum of 500 character levels on the same server from Legion-eligible characters, you can unlock the Legion System by talking to Dame Appropriation, the Legion Manager.

He will have a quest called ‘[Legion] Legion Introduction’, which just requires you to go through some dialog.

Once you’ve completed that, he will give you another quest called ‘[Legion] We Are Legion’, which is also just some dialog.

After doing those two quests, you will have access to the Legion System.

Dame Appropriation is located in many major towns in the game, including Henesys, just to the left of the Market Place sign.

After unlocking the Legion System, you can access it by clicking the menu icon with the three lines on it at the bottom of the screen and then selecting Manage Legion.

Legion effect bonuses

When you add a character to your Legion, the effect bonuses from that character are added to your total legion buff and thereby given to all your characters on the same server.

What effect bonus a character gives your Legion depends on what class and branch that character is.

The higher the level of a character, the higher its Legion effect rank and the greater the stat boosts it gives.

Here you can see at what levels characters reach the next effect rank in the Legion system.

LevelRank

The Zero class is special as it starts at level 100. They reach rank B, A, S, SS, and SSS, at level 130, 160, 180, 200, and 250.

Classes in the game give widely different types of stat boosts, so it’s a great idea to familiarize yourself with the bonus effects of each class when looking to train a new character for your Legion.

Legion Synergy Grid

The Legion Synergy Grid is the grid of squares you see when you open the Legion window.

You can open the Legion window by going to the menu at the bottom of the screen and then selecting Manage Legion.

To add characters to your Legion as attackers, click Assign Units, select a character from the gallery, and then place their grid piece on the Legion Synergy Grid.

Every square on the Legion Synergy Grid gives one of 16 stat boosts when covered.

This means that adding characters to your Legion, and thereby their grid piece to your Legion Synergy Grid, gives you the stat boosts equal to the squares covered by the grid piece.

The Legion Synergy Grid is divided into two main parts, the inner grid, and the outer grid.

Maplestory Legion Synergy Grid

Here is an overview of what each square in the different categories gives:

Inner grid

  • ATT squares: +1 ATT per square (+15 ATT Max)
  • Magic Attack squares: +1 M.ATT per square (+15 M.ATT Max)
  • STR squares: +5 STR per square (+75 STR Max)
  • DEX squares: +5 DEX per square (+75 DEX Max)
  • INT squares: +5 INT per square (+75 INT Max)
  • LUK squares: +5 LUK per square (+75 LUK Max)
  • HP squares: +250 HP per square (+3750 HP Max)
  • MP squares: +250 MP per square (+3750 MP Max)

Outer grid

  • Critical Rate squares: +1% Critical Rate Chance per square (+40% Max)
  • Boss Damage squares: +1% Boss Damage per square (+40% Max)
  • Critical Damage squares: +0.5% Critical Damage per square (+20% Max)
  • Ignore DEF squares: +1% Ignore Enemy Defense per square (+40% Max)
  • Bonus EXP squares: +0.25% Bonus Experience per square (+10% Max)
  • Buff Duration squares: +1% Buff Duration per square (+40% Max)
  • Abnormal Status Resistance squares: +1 Abnormal Status Resistance per square (+40 Max)
  • Knockback Resistance squares: +1% Knockback Resistance per square (+40% Max)

Character grid pieces can be placed anywhere on in the inner grid as soon as you unlock the Legion System, as long as the pieces are connected to the middle, of course.

You can, however, not place grid pieces on squares located on the outer grid before you unlock them.

The outer grid is unlocked one square from the inner grid at a time.

In other words, when you reach a Legion Rank that unlocks the next part of the outer grid, the ring of squares touching your current inner grid is unlocked.

Here is an overview of what Legion Rank you need to reach before you unlock each part of the outer grid.

Legion RankPart of outer grid unlocked
Nameless Legion 4First ring of squares outside of inner grid
Renowned Legion 1Second ring of squares outside of inner grid
Renowned Legion 3Third ring of squares outside of inner grid
Renowned Legion 5Fourth ring of squares outside of inner grid
Heroic Legion 2Fifth ring of squares outside of inner grid

You can learn how to increase your Legion Rank later in this guide.

Making your way to and covering as many squares as possible on the outer grid is the goal when building your Legion.

What specific part of the outer square you should aim for depends on your class and current situation in the game.

To reach and cover as many squares as possible on the outer grid, you need to have many characters and preferably high-level ones.

By having many different characters and thereby different grid pieces, you can optimize your placements on the grid based on your needs.

Higher leveled, meaning higher ranked characters have grid pieces that cover more squares, which means they give you more grid bonuses.

Here is an overview of the grid pieces each category of classes gives at each rank.

In regards to Legion grid pieces, all classes in the game fall into one of the five categories:

  • Magician
  • Thief
  • Warrior
  • Bowman
  • Pirate

Only Xenon is an exception and has pieces made of a combination of the Thief and Pirate class.

Legion Ranks

Your Legion Rank determines both how many characters you can add as attackers in your Legion as well as how much of the outer grid you can use.

Having more attackers in your Legion gives you more Legion buffs as well as makes you generate Legion Coins at a faster pace.

There are a total of 20 Legion Ranks in Maplestory.

Here is a complete overview of all Legion Ranks in the game and how many attackers you can assign at each rank.

How to increase Legion Rank

Increasing your Legion Rank is key to making your Legion stronger.

By upgrading your Legion Rank, you increase the number of attackers you can place in your Legion, which increases your Legion buffs.

There are two requirements you need to meet when you want to increase your Legion Rank – total number of Legion-eligible character levels on the server and Legion Coins.

Your Legion-eligible character levels are the combined number of levels of all characters on the same server on your account of characters that are at least 60 and have completed the second job advancement, level 130 for Zeros.

Legion Coins are the in-game currency for the Legion System and shop that you earn through your Legion.

You can see the number of Legion Coins you currently have as well as your total number of Legion-eligible levels in the Legion window.

You can raise your Legion Rank in Maplestory by talking to Dame Appropriation, then selecting ‘Talk to Dame Appropriation, and then choosing ‘<Raise Legion Rank>’.

Before you can raise your Legion Rank, you need to meet the requirements at your current rank.

Here is a complete overview of the requirements you need to meet at each Legion Rank to raise your rank to the next one.

In the chart above, the ‘Legion Coin Requirement from the previous rank’ is the number of Legion Coins you need to upgrade to that Legion Rank from the previous one, while the ‘Total Legion Coin requirement’ is simply a calculation of how many Legion Coins it takes to get to that rank from the first one.

Likewise, the ‘Legion-eligible levels requirement’ is how many Legion-eligible character levels you need on the same server to upgrade your Legion to that Legion Rank from the previous one.

For most players, the total Legion-eligible level requirement will quickly become the factor holding them back from ranking up their Legion.

Nevertheless, you should still always rank up your Legion to the next rank as quickly as possible so you can start to generate more Legion Coins, as they are also useful for the Legion Shop.

How to get Legion Coins

Legions Coins are the currency for the Legion System in Maplestory.

Legion Coins can only be earned through the Legion System.

There are two ways to get Legion Coins through the Legion System – from the Legion Raid and from Legion daily quests.

The Legion Raid is a constant battle your Legion attackers are fighting against powerful bosses.

Your Legion attackers will keep fighting this boss non-stop, even when you aren’t playing the game.

Every time your attackers defeat this boss, your Legion generates one Legion Coin that you have to claim manually.

Your Legion can hold up to 200 Legion Coins at a time, so be sure to claim them before you’ve generated 200.

To claim your Legion Coins from the Legion Raid, open the Legion window, press ‘Start Raid’, click ‘Yes’ on the pop-up. Once inside the Legion Raid, click ‘Retreat’ on the right side, and then talk to Dame Appropriation.

Dame Appropriation will give you the Legion Coins that your attackers have generated since you claimed them the last time.

You can access the Legion window by clicking the menu icon with three lines on it at the bottom of the screen and then selecting ‘Manage Legion’.

The stronger the assigned attackers in your Legion are, the more Legion Coins you’ll generate per day.

Your Legion Raid power depends on the level of the characters you have assigned as attackers in your Legion, as well as the total star force value of the currently equipped items of your attackers.

Completing Legion daily quests is the second way to get Legion Coins in the game.

You can find the Legion daily quests by talking to Dame Appropriation.

There are only two Legion daily quests, both of which require you to defeat mobs yourself in the Legion Raid.

The first is Whip the Whelps that asks you to defeat 100 Dragon Whelps for a reward of 10 Legion Coins.

The second is Defeat the Golden Wyvern that asks you to defeat 20 Golden Wyverns for a reward of 20 Legion Coins.

This means that you can earn an extra 30 Legion Coins every day by completing both Legion daily quests.

Again, to access the Legion Raid to fight both Dragon Whelps and Golden Wyverns, open the Legion window and click ‘Start Raid’.

The mobs that you need to defeat for the two quests are the dragons on the side-platforms and bottom of the map, as well as the golden wyverns that appear from time to time and fly around freely.

As Legion Coins are very useful in the game, we recommend you do the two daily Legion quests every day.

How to build your Legion Synergy Grid

Once you’ve unlocked Legion, it’s time to start adding character pieces to your Legion Synergy Grid.

When you add a character to your grid, it becomes an attacker in your Legion, give its effect bonus as a buff, and you will get the buffs from the squares the piece covers.

The first piece you add to your Legion Synergy Grid has to cover one of the four middle squares with the part of the piece displaying the class of the character.

All other character pieces you add to your grid have to be placed so that they either vertically or horizontally touch one of the pieces already on the grid.

With these simple rules, your goal is to build towards the outer grids to obtain the most powerful buffs the Legion Synergy Grid has to offer.

You can both rotate, vertically reflect, and horizontally reflect pieces by using the buttons that appear when you place a piece on the grid.

To bring up the buttons for a piece already placed on the grid, just click it.

Rotations and reflections of pieces are done around the class icon on the piece.

What parts of the outer grid you should build towards and cover as much of as possible depends on what class you are playing and what your current situation in the game is.

Many players use the preset feature to build multiple Legion setups for different situations, including training and bossing.

If you want to optimize your Legion for specific stats based on your current characters, then you can check out this Legion Solver.

Legion Coin Shop

Legion Coins can be used for two things in the game – ranking up your Legion and for purchasing items in the Legion Shop.

The Legion Shop is a store you can access through the NPC Squire Pancho Sanza who is located right next to Dame Appropriation in major towns.

All items in the Legion Shop are for sale for Legion Coins only.

There are many useful items and buffs you can purchase in the Legion Shop.

There is, however, a limit on how many of a specific item you can purchase from the Legion Shop every week.

Here is a complete overview of everything you can purchase in the Legion Shop, as well as how many of each you can purchase every week.

Lab Server

The Lab Server was a special event in Maplestory back in 2018 where players could play on a special server, the Lab Server.

This was a temporary server where all monsters dealt way more damage. Furthermore, if you died, your character would revert back to level 10.

The rewards from participating and reaching high levels on the Lab Server included special grid pieces for your Legion.

Therefore, you might see players with Legion grid pieces that you don’t know how to obtain.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way of obtaining them, and the event hasn’t returned since, so neither has the opportunity to obtain them since.

The Regular Lab Server Legion piece gives +5, +10, +15, +20, and +25 Weapon ATT/Magic ATT at each grade.

The Enhanced Lab Server Legion piece gives +7, +14, +21, +28, and +35 Weapon ATT/Magic ATT at each grade.

Here you can see the two types of Lab Server Legion pieces at each rank.

Being a rare drop, it’s not an item most players randomly stumble upon. Therefore, we’ve made this guide to show you how to get Piece of Ice in the game.

You can get Piece of Ice in Maplestory from defeating Ice Drakes. The best map to farm Ice Drakes is Drake Cave: Cold Wind in Sleepywood.

Where to get Piece of Ice

Piece of Ice is a rare drop from the mob, Ice Drake, that can be found in Sleepywood.

Specifically, you can find Ice Drakes in two maps in Sleepywood, Drake Cave: Cold Wind and Drake Cave: Chilly Cave.

The drop rate of Pieces of Ice is fairly low, but if you just farm for a while, you’ll get one eventually.

We went to Drake Cave: Cold Wind on a high-level character and got a Piece of Ice after around five minutes.

You need Piece of Ice for different quests in Maplestory, including ‘Reawakening the Gladius’.

Maplestory – Miracle Cubes Tier Up Rates https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-miracle-cubes-tier-up-rates/ https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-miracle-cubes-tier-up-rates/#respond Wed, 27 Jan 2021 15:36:32 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=11861 Cubing items is going to be an essential part of Maplestory once you need to upgrade your equipment for late game.

Throughout your journey, you will be using a ton of cubes to upgrade your gear.

Recommended Read: Maplestory – EXP Per Level Requirements Chart and Graphs

One thought that comes into everybody’s mind when cubing is: what is the chance of tiering up the potential of this item?

To answer this question, we’ve created a chart of the chance to tier up when using each type of cube from each type of rarity to the next.

Some of the cube rates in this guide are official numbers from Nexon while others are estimates.

Table of contents

Miracle Cubes tier up rates

As cubing becomes a bigger part of the game, the higher your level reaches, it’s inevitable that you start to wonder what the chance of you tiering up an item is.

Because of developments in the Korea version of Maplestory regarding bonus stat generation issues, Nexon decided to release the official cube rates for Red Cubes, Black Cubes, and Bonus Potential Cubes.

They did this in an effort to improve transparency after players were outraged about the stat generation probability issue.

Tier-up rates for Occult Cubes, Master Craftsman’s Cubes, and Meister’s Cubes have not been released by Nexon.

It is, however, possible to figure out the tier-up rates of these types of cubes by using a bunch of them, recording the data, and calculating the rate.

This is what some players of Maplestory did, where they themselves used a bunch of cubes and pooled data from other sources, including long non-edited cubing sessions of Youtubers, etc.

We are using their findings to show the rates for Occult Cubes, Master Craftsman’s Cubes, and Meister’s Cubes.

We cannot be certain that the rates for tiering up are the exact same in GMS, but they are most likely very similar, if not the exact same.

The following chart showing the tier-up rate of each type of Miracle Cube in Maplestory is based on the official numbers from Maplestory Korea, source, and the findings of a group of Maplestory players, source.

Rates for Red Cubes, Black Cubes, and Bonus Potential Cubes are official numbers from KMS and rates for Occult Cubes, Master Craftman’s Cubes, and Meister’s Cubes are estimates.

Maplestory Black Cube IconBlack Cube15.0%3.5%1.0%
Bonus Potential Cube4.7619%1.9608%0.4975%

Miracle Cubes that can only tier up to a specific rarity will be marked with ‘-‘ at each tier up they cannot do.

The tier up rates that are calculated above are based on this many samples:

  • Occult Cubes: 1,100 samples
  • Master Craftman’s Cubes: 9,325 samples
  • Meister’s Cube: 740 samples

This gives us a good estimate of their chance of tiering up, but they are still far from perfect, especially the calculations for Occult Cube and Meister’s Cube, as they have so few samples.

All data regarding these tier-ups are from the Reboot server.

The general understanding is, however, that the chance to tier up with a specific type of cube is the same on both Reboot and normal servers.

When Miracle Time is live, the chance to tier up an item is doubled.

Based on the tier-up rates above, we can calculate the expected number of cubes you need to tier up an item to the next tier at each rarity, as well as the total number of cubes needed to get to legendary.

The number of cubes you need to tier up in the following chart has been rounded to the nearest zero decimal number.

IconCubeRare To EpicEpic To UniqueUnique To LegendaryRare to Legendary

Do keep in mind that these are just a theoretical average number of cubes needed to tier up based on an estimate of the chance to tier up.

Maplestory – EXP Per Level Graph & Chart https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-exp-per-level-graph-chart/ https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-exp-per-level-graph-chart/#respond Tue, 26 Jan 2021 23:45:45 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=11824 Leveling up in Maplestory has become significantly easier over the last decade as EXP requirements to level up have fallen relative to the EXP monsters give.

However, leveling up still takes some time, especially as you get in the 230-300 level range.

As you grind, you might wonder just how much EXP you need to level up at each level.

Recommended Read: Maplestory – Miracle Cube Tier Up Rates

Therefore, we’ve created the graphs and charts below to show you the amount of EXP needed to level up at each level.

As the EXP needed to level up increases too rapidly, we’ve split the levels into intervals so that you can see important jumps in EXP required.

Table of contents

EXP per level graph and chart

Have you ever wondered how much EXP you need to level up at each level? Well, if you have, you can see exactly how much EXP you need at each level in this guide.

We’ve created both a chart and several graphs to give you a better understanding of how the needed EXP to level up grows in Maplestory.

The first 200 levels in Maplestory are now very fast compared to a decade ago. This is how the EXP needed to level up grows from level 1 to 199.

Maplestory EXP Per Level Graph 1-199

As you can tell, from level 1 to 200, EXP needed to level up simply rises exponentially with some bumps in the EXP multiplier per level, which you can see in the full chart below.

Once you reach level 200, you experience the single biggest EXP multiplier jump.

In other words, the percentage difference between level 199 to 200 and 200 to 201 is the largest in the game.

Here you can see that jump in a graph showing the needed EXP per level from level 180 to 209.

Maplestory EXP Per Level Graph 180-209

Even though leveling to level 200 is now a much quicker job than it was back in the days, you will still be spending a lot of time grinding if you’re aiming for level 275.

Because the EXP needed to level up after level 200 jumps so much as shown above, as well as the multiplier keeps jumping at certain levels from here, we’ve made a separate graph showing only from level 200 to 274.

If we didn’t do this, you wouldn’t be able to see the shape of the EXP graph from level 1 to 199.

Here you can see how the needed EXP to level up grows from level 200 to 274 in Maplestory.

Maplestory EXP Per Level Graph 200-274

A lot of levels have a constant EXP multiplier, which means that EXP needed to level up grows at the same rate – exponential growth.

However, as you can see in the graph, the exponential growth is not easy to observe, as some levels have extreme multiplier jumps that dominate the shape of the graph.

Here is the full chart of the EXP needed to level up at each level, the cumulative EXP you’ll earn throughout the game, as well as the multiplier of EXP needed to level up, per level.

How to get Honor EXP and Miracle Circulators

Gathering Honor EXP and Miracle Circulators is essential late game in Maplestory, as you need it to reset your inner ability.

The most common way to use your Honor EXP and Miracle Circulators is that players use Honor EXP to tier up their inner ability to legendary and then use Miracle Circulators to reset their inner ability.

The reason they do it like this is that Miracle Circulators have a higher chance of giving better lines and will give the maximum value of the attribute you roll.

You can get Honor EXP in Maplestory by collecting Medals of Honor, which are dropped by bosses, but you can also earn Honor EXP by leveling up and completing some quests.

By just leveling up normally and doing daily bosses, you’ll easily have around 150k-200k Honor EXP when you reach around level 200.

A common way to farm Medals of Honor is to use drop gear in a high-level map with great spawn.

If you’re not much for just farming the same mobs in the same map, you can also acquire quite a bit of Honor EXP by doing Mu Lung Dojo and buying Medals of Honor from the Mu Lung Dojo Shop.

Usually, you can also buy Special Medals of Honor in event shops, which give 10k Honor EXP each.

The easiest way to get Miracle Circulators depends on whether or not you are playing on Reboot.

On the Reboot server, you can just purchase Miracle Circulators from the Cash Shop for 19 million mesos each.

You can also purchase Miracle Circulators from the Cash Shop on regular servers, but it is possible to obtain them without spending NX as well.

In almost every event in Maplestory, there is an event shop where you can exchange event coins for useful items.

A common item for sale in these shops is Miracle Circulators.

So if you’re in need of Miracle Circulators, go check out the current events and their shops. Chances are you can get your hands on some there.

Maplestory – How To Get Potential On An Item https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-how-to-get-potential-on-an-item/ https://gamerempire.net/maplestory-how-to-get-potential-on-an-item/#respond Fri, 22 Jan 2021 19:48:03 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=11425 The potential system is a powerful way to significantly improve the stats of an equip item in Maplestory.

Most of the items you’ll acquire late game will already have a hidden potential on them, but not all do.

Recommended Read: Maplestory – How to Get Star Force

Luckily, there is a way to give an equip a hidden potential.

To give an equip a hidden potential in Maplestory, use any of the many potential scrolls in the game on it.

The easiest way to acquire potential scrolls is through the auction house on regular servers and from the legion shop on Reboot.

Find more details on how to get potential on an item in Maplestory below.

How to get potential on an item

Many of the items you’ll find and purchase later on in the game will already have a potential on them.

In such a case, you would only need to add another line of potential if it is only two-lined and then cube it till you get a satisfying potential.

However, not all items you get in Maplestory will have a potential on them already.

So how can you add a potential to a piece of equipment you wish to use that doesn’t have a hidden potential?

The only way to add a potential to an item is to use a potential scroll on it.

Potential scrolls are special scrolls that, upon successful use, will add a hidden potential to the item

On regular servers, there are also bonus potential scrolls, that upon successful use, add a bonus potential to an item.

To use a potential scroll, double click the scroll in your ‘use’ tab and select the item you wish to add a potential to.

If you are wearing the piece of equipment you wish to add a potential to, drag the scroll from your ‘use’ tab to the desired piece of equipment in your equipment inventory.

There are many different potential scrolls in the game, all with varying chances of success and levels of potential upon success.

The cheapest and easiest to obtain are the regular potential scrolls that give a random hidden potential at a 70% rate.

Others include the epic potential scrolls that give a potential of at least epic rarity upon success and the unique potential scrolls that give a potential of at least unique upon success.

The higher the rarity of potential a potential scroll gives, the harder it is to obtain, making it more valuable as well.

You can obtain potential scrolls through various means on regular servers, including boss drops, events, and, of course, the auction house.

By far, the easiest and fastest way to obtain them on regular servers is through the auction house.

On the Reboot server, the easiest way to obtain potential scrolls is through the Legion shop or the Yu Garden, but it can also be obtained in other ways, including events, Gollux shop, Commerci, Elite bosses, and Mu Lung Dojo.

The only way to reset the potential on an item that already has a potential is by using cubes on them. You cannot reset a potential by using a potential scroll.

How To Play Maplestory on Mac Guide https://gamerempire.net/how-to-play-maplestory-on-mac-guide/ https://gamerempire.net/how-to-play-maplestory-on-mac-guide/#respond Mon, 18 Jan 2021 15:42:16 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=11205 Unlike most of the major video games, Maplestory is not built to run on macOS, and Nexon likely won’t ever make a separate version for this.

However, for those with a Mac looking to play Maplestory, there are luckily different ways to do so.

Recommended Read: Maplestory Player Statistics

The most common way to play Maplestory on Macs is by installing Boot Camp on your system, which allows you to install Windows.

You can then install Maplestory on the Windows system on your Mac and play it from there.

You can find more information on how to install it and play Maplestory on Mac below.

How to play Maplestory on Mac

Maplestory is natively built for Windows, and there is no macOS version of the game.

Therefore, you cannot play Maplestory on your Mac unless you install a program to work around this issue.

The easiest and most common way to play Maplestory on your Mac is by using the Boot Camp Assistant program.

Boot Camp Assistant allows you to choose between different operating systems when you boot your Mac.

This means that you can install Windows on your Mac and select the Windows operating system when booting your Mac.

Installing Windows on your Mac does not mean you cannot access your regular macOS system anymore. You can just choose your macOS when booting your Mac.

Here is a step by step guide on how to install Windows and then Maplestory on your Mac.

Note, we have not tested this method ourselves. We are simply referring to the official information from Apple’s Support website, source.

We recommend you buy a Windows activation key to activate Windows, which you can do in most computer stores or from the official Microsoft Website.

To install Windows on your Mac, go to the Microsoft Windows Download Page, and select the version you want to install.

After downloading the Windows ISO file from the official website, open up Boot Camp Assistant from the utilities tab under Applications on your Mac.

The Boot Camp Assistant application will help guide you through how to install windows on your Mac.

On the page where Boot Camp Assistant asks you to choose the ‘ISO image’, browse your system and find the Windows ISO file you’ve just downloaded.

Before pressing install, you can select how much storage you want to be distributed between your macOS and your Windows. This distribution is up to you, but you need enough storage to download and install Maplestory.

Once you’ve selected the storage distribution between the two operating systems, click ‘Install’.

You will now be taken through the installation process, where you can set up a user and select the settings you want on your Windows system.

When Windows has been installed, you will be taken to the desktop of your Windows system, and a Boot Camp installer will appear, go ahead and run it and click install on all the drivers it wants to install.

Once the installation has finished, it will ask you to reboot your Mac, go ahead and do so.

To be sure Windows runs properly, go ahead and run the Apple Software Update program once your Mac has rebooted and installed any recommended updates/drivers.

You can find the Apple Software Update program through the start menu in the bottom left corner.

Reboot once more when asked to do so after installing any updates/drivers.

The last step to make Windows run properly is to run the Windows Update once your Mac has rebooted.

You can find Window Update by going to the start menu, clicking the settings icon, and then selecting Update & Security.

Click ‘Check for updates’ and install all the updates and drivers it finds.

Note, the windows update will take quite a long time to complete. Once complete, reboot your system once again to complete the update.

You now have Windows installed on your Mac. To reboot your Mac back into macOS, click the tray (arrow pointing up icon) right next to your internet icon in the bottom menu, right-click the boot camp icon, and click ‘Restart in macOS’.

Now that you have installed Windows on your Mac, it’s time to install Maplestory.

Go to any browser and go to the Maplestory Website.

Click ‘PLAY FREE NOW’ and select ‘DOWNLOAD THE LAUNCHER’ on the pop-up.

Run the Nexon Launcher installer to install Nexon Launcher.

Once you have installed Nexon Launcher, open it, log in to your account, and go to the Maplestory tab.

Click download, and Maplestory will be downloaded and installed on your Windows.

Once complete, click Launch, and Maplestory will start running.

That’s it! That’s how to play Maplestory on Mac.
