Given the vast map size in Project Zomboid, it’s impractical to visit each city manually to scout for ideal base and building locations. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered!

In this guide, we’ll show you the list of the best places to spawn in Project Zomboid.

The best spawn spots in Project Zomboid should have a lower zombie density, be close to resource-rich areas like fire stations, bookstores, and pharmacies, and have access to natural resources such as forests or rivers. Having a base with built-in fences saves valuable time and effort on fortifications. Overall, choosing where to spawn depends on your preferences and experience, though.

Table of Contents

What Places Are Best to Spawn in Project Zomboid?

By default, you can choose one of four starting locations while setting up your world. They are:

  • Muldraugh, KY
  • Riverside, KY
  • Rosewood, KY
  • West Point, KY

Each of them has different advantages and disadvantages. The difficulty of survival in each location also depends on your previous experience.

According to our guide, if you’re new to Project Zomboid, you should choose Rosewood. For those ready for challenges, Muldraugh or West Point might be more suitable.

However, even if you pick a starting spot, you might end up in a random house or base with unknown resources. In that case, check out this guide to learn how to spawn at a specific location.

The best places to spawn are where there are fewer zombies, close to the gas station, and away from tall buildings. Also, it’s good to be near supermarkets, bookstores, and grocery stores to find resources.

Moreover, your base should be close to the forest for easy access to wood, which is important for fortifying it subsequently.

We also included some of the best places in each starting location. You can visit them here or click on the coordinates below to know where they are:

  1. In Rosewood:
  1. In Riverside:
  1. In West Point:
  1. In Muldraugh:

Nonetheless, if these locations don’t meet your needs or if you’re looking for other choices, then we’ve made a list of potential places to spawn below.

1. Houses North of Louisville (Coordinates)

If you traveled to Louisville and want to have a long-life survival here, then it’s advisable to pick any of the houses north of the city.

What makes these houses stand out is their proximity to the river, ensuring an unlimited source of water and fish, and alleviating concerns about hydration and food scarcity.

Additionally, by positioning along the river, these houses reduce the risk of being surrounded by large groups of zombies, thereby increasing the chance of survival and providing clear pathways for existence.

Moreover, you don’t need to spend time building walls or fences because all of these houses are covered by built-in fences.

In addition, the area inside the fences is large enough for crops, and the small forest nearby ensures sufficient wooden resources for survival.

2. Three Mansions Southeast of Louisville (Coordinates)

Many players choose these 3 mansions as their go-to spawn place, even though Louisville, being the largest city, offers multiple ideal places to live. Clearly, there must be a reason behind it. So why?

Similar to the first location, these mansions offer defense with their high-quality built-in metal fences, fortifying your base against threats.

The path leading to each mansion is pretty narrow, with an intersection at the center of the area. As a result, you can implement numerous strategic plans to enhance your base and collaborate with your friends to ensure long-term survival here.

The forest adjacent to the mansions provides substantial resources, and there are multiple houses and storage areas waiting for you to loot to the west of these mansions.

However, keep in mind that because this place is far from the center of Louisville, traveling here takes time and involves risks. Moreover, there aren’t many gas stations nearby to fuel your vehicle.

3. Luxury Mansions in The Center of Louisville (Coordinates)

These mansions in Louisville are fancy and have everything you might need to survive: a heat source, refrigerators, TVs, tools, accessories, and strong fences for safety.

However, the small outdoor space doesn’t allow for a farm. You’ll also need to clear out lots of zombies around to ensure safety first.

4. The House With Fences East of West Point (Coordinates)

If you need a temporary base before heading to Louisville, then this West Point house is perfect!

It’s close to Louisville and surrounded by fences, which makes it unique among nearby houses. It’s also near places like the pharmacy, mart, office building, and auto shop, so it’s convenient for getting supplies and looting items.

Finally, being near the river and forest means you have lots of wood and food, but be careful with the many zombies around your base, as they can be overwhelming.

5. The Police Station In Doe Valley (Coordinates)

Despite its small size, Doe Valley offers various potential spawning and living locations.

The police station stands out as the perfect choice among them, as it’s situated next to vital resources like the bookshop, farm store, and hardware shop.

Additionally, the expansive forest behind the station ensures an unlimited wood supply, a crucial survival resource. However, due to the distance from other cities, Doe Valley is not an ideal choice if you travel regularly.

6. Residential Houses in March Ridge (Coordinates)

March Ridge is not typically a common choice for picking the best places to spawn, but if you prefer innovation, the residential houses southeast of the city are a good pick.

It’s noticeable that there are many residential houses in the large area southeast of March Ridge, and most of them are two-story houses covered by fences, thus meeting our expectations.

Additionally, it’s not too far from the center, where you can easily sneak in and scavenge for items and food.

Most importantly, these houses are next to the pathway that leads to the highway, making it easier for you to relocate.

7. The House Near the Music Concert in Louisville (Coordinates)

It can be infinite to make a list of the best places in Louisville, but just a few of them meet all the criteria we mentioned above, and the house next to the music concert is a notable example.

The first advantage of this house, which comes with a built-in fence, is that it’s located near the forest and the fire department. This makes it easier to collect wood and improve Carpentry skills.

Additionally, the nearby camping area and music concert to the south provide sufficient resources for survival. However, be prepared to handle a large number of zombies in that area.

8. Scarlet Oak Distillery in Louisville (Coordinates)

Moving on to our list, the Scarlet Oak Distillery stands out as the ultimate spawn location in Louisville.

This factory is covered by tall fences, offering only two entrances for transportation and defense. Inside, you’ll find a variety of tools and items that can sustain you throughout your time in Louisville.

Additionally, it’s conveniently close to the gas station and parking area, allowing easy access to high-quality vehicles and fuel.

Positioned near the river and forest, the factory is ideal for trapping, farming, and fishing. If you prefer fresh food, these resources are a boon, as you won’t have to rely solely on canned goods.

Furthermore, this location offers expandability, allowing you to block off a large surrounding neighborhood with wooden or metal walls. In the game’s late stages, creating even a fortress here is possible.

9. The Train Yard in Louisville (Coordinates)

Our final pick for the best spawn places is the train yard near Louisville’s center, which is huge, making it great for placing crates, containers, and building a fortress.

It has built-in fences and is close to the gas station and park, providing a supply for long-term survival.

You might need to add some more fences to keep zombies in the north of the yard, but that’s doable because there’s a nearby forest.

Lastly, the empty space makes it easy to stay on the roof and shoot using firearms.

10. Two Malls in Louisville (Coordinates, Coordinates)

Choosing these two malls as your spawn point means you won’t have to hunt for food or water due to their large size and potential supplies they might contain.

However, these malls lack defensive fences. Fortunately, they are near the forest, so you can gradually build defenses while surviving.

The real challenge here is the high number of zombies. If you’re new, other locations might be better. These malls are best suited for Project Zomboid veterans aiming for the 100-day survival challenge.

Those are the best places to spawn in Project Zomboid.

Project Zomboid – How to Survive the Helicopter Event https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-how-to-survive-the-helicopter-event/ https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-how-to-survive-the-helicopter-event/#respond Mon, 13 Nov 2023 06:34:59 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=59077 Water and power shut-off, screams, gun sounds, and helicopters are meta-game events in Project Zomboid designed to add challenge and increase tension.

Among the above events, the helicopter event might confuse players the most due to its vague description.

In this guide, we’ll show you what a helicopter event is and how to survive the helicopter event in Project Zomboid.

Recommended Read: How to Make Bandages in Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, a helicopter event is a meta-event that creates the helicopter sound to force the surrounding zombies to migrate to your area. There are many possible scenarios to survive the helicopter event, but you must get the radio to be aware of it in advance and prepare for essential items.

The helicopter event often lasts 1-5 in-game hours. It happens once in your world by default, but you can change the frequency when setting up the world.

Table of Contents

What is The Helicopter Event in Project Zomboid?

In Project Zomboid, a helicopter event is a game feature where a helicopter appears and makes noise, attracting and gathering zombies to the location where it appears.

The purpose of the helicopter event is to lure millions of zombies to your area, thus adding more challenges and difficulty to the gameplay.

The behavior of zombies in Project Zomboid mainly relies on their hearing. As a result, wherever the helicopter goes, the zombies follow and attack you as soon as they recognize you.

How to Survive The Helicopter Event in Project Zomboid

The helicopter has two pathways:

  • First, it will spawn and fly around your current location.
  • If you’re inside or in a deep forest and don’t go out, it won’t be able to find you.

However, the helicopter will follow you if you step outside and try to run to another building or the forest.

As a result, the helicopter’s pathway changes depending on your location, but keep in mind that regardless of where you are, packing up essential items and weapons and creating a defense is a must.

How to Survive The Helicopter Event in Your Base

If you’re inside your base to prepare and survive the helicopter event, here’s what you should do.

First, find the Automated Emergency Broadcast System channel on the radio and listen frequently to know when the helicopter is about to come.

The information from the radio is refreshed every 9 AM. When you catch the phrase “Air activity detected”, get ready as the helicopter is coming. You’ll have less than a day to prepare.

Try clearing out the zombies wandering around your base as quickly as possible. While it doesn’t prevent the zombies from coming to you, it reduces the number of them subsequently.

Close all windows and cover them with curtains. To do this, find a Sheet or curtain, right-click on the window, and select “Add Sheet/Add Curtain”.

After that, right-click on the window again and select “Close Curtains”. The curtain will restrict your visibility but also prevent the zombies from noticing you from outside.

Next, move essential items to the second floor and stay on it. In case you’ve got a Sledgehammer, consider breaking the stairs to prevent the zombies from reaching you.

Remember to place sheet ropes later to safely get up and down the second floor.

Once you’ve heard the sound from the helicopter, close all the curtains, sit on the ground, watch TV (with the lowest volume), read books, or maybe do exercises, and wait for the event to end.

When the helicopter is gone, don’t go outside just yet. Instead, wait for at least 1 day so the zombies have enough time to migrate to other locations.

If your base has many valuable items and you don’t want to lose them at any cost, you should prepare a working car. Then, head far away from your base and keep driving around while the helicopter event is happening.

When it stops, just drive straight to your base if the current location is far enough (out of town, for example). Otherwise, use the car’s horn to lure zombies away from your base before heading home.

How to Survive The Helicopter Event When You’re in The Forest

Surviving through the helicopter event is trickier if you’re in the forest, as there’s a higher chance the zombies will spot you.

In that case, ensure you’ve got some high-quality melee weapons and firearms, then craft a defensive cover with sandbag walls and stay inside until the helicopter disappears.

How to Survive The Helicopter Event When You’re Outside

As mentioned above, the helicopter will follow you if you’re outside. In that case, running to the building or forest has no effect.

So, the only way to keep yourself safe is to drive your car around the area until the event ends.

Since the zombies are much slower than the car’s performance, they have no chance to damage you as long as you keep a safe distance from them.

How Long Does The Helicopter Event Last?

The helicopter event will last between 1-5 in-game hours.

By default, it will come to your zone once, around 9 AM to 7 PM, in all scenarios.

However, you can adjust the frequency of the helicopter event while setting up the world by going to the “Sadistic AI Director” tab, then selecting” Never” if you want to turn off the helicopter event or “Sometimes/Often” if you want more challenges.

While bandages can be found anywhere in the world, learning how to craft them is extremely necessary to save yourself in emergency circumstances.

Recommended Read: Does Your Hair Grow in Project Zomboid?

The two main ways to make Bandages in Project Zomboid are by clearing Dirty Bandages and ripping clothing (cotton, denim, or leather).

Table of Contents

How to Make Bandages in Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, the primary function of bandages is to stop the wound from bleeding, thus preventing your character from losing health.

Therefore, any object capable of treating wounds and stopping bleeding is regarded as a form of bandage (Bandage, Ripped Sheet, Denim Strips, Leather Strips, Sterilized Bandage, Sterilized Rag), not limited to the specific “Bandage” item itself.

Bandages can be found in medical buildings or first aid kits.

However, just imagine you’re in the deep forest, and no first aid kits or medical buildings are nearby.

How can you get the bandages to back up in case you get damaged by scratches from the zombies?

Fear not, as there are many ways to craft the bandage yourself!

Make Bandage From Dirty Bandage

After being used for a while, a Bandage will turn into a Dirty Bandage.

Dirty Bandages can be used to treat wounds as well. However, it’s not advisable as it increases the chance of infection.

Therefore, besides being found in trash bins, you should keep your Dirty Bandages after use and clean them with 1 unit of water.

To make the Bandage from the Dirty Bandage, right-click on it in your inventory and select “Clean Bandage”.

Make Bandage From Ripped Sheets

Ripped Sheets can be used for multiple purposes in Project Zomboid, and stopping bleeding is no exception.

However, remember that Ripped Sheets are less effective in treating wounds than Bandages, although they are easily craftable.

You can obtain 3-4 Ripped Sheets by tearing apart Sheets or any cotton clothing (Shirts, T-shirts, Socks, etc.). These materials are extremely common in wardrobes, houses, or even from zombies.

To get Ripped Sheets from pieces of clothing, right-click on any of them and select “Rip Clothing”. Alternatively, right-click on the Sheet and select “Rip Sheet” to obtain Ripped Sheets from the Sheets.

Moreover, you can also get Ripped Sheets by cleaning the Dirty Rag, which can be found in the trash bin or the laundry of houses.

Ensure you have water in your inventory, then right-click on the Dirty Rag and select “Clean Rag” to get a Ripped Sheet.

Make Bandages From Denim and Leather Strips

Similar to the Ripped Sheets, Denim and Leather Strips can also be used to treat wounds. They share the same effectiveness as the Ripped Sheets but are more difficult to obtain.

You can get both Denim and Ripped Sheets commonly by ripping off Denim and Leather clothes, but this option is only available if you have the Scissors, which can be found in lockers, shelves, and drawers, in your inventory.

Denim and Leather clothes can be looted from zombies or found in wardrobes and bathrooms.

To tear apart these pieces of clothing, right-click on them and select “Rip Clothing”. Each attempt grants you 3-4 units of Denim and Leather Strips, respectively.

On top of that, you can convert Dirty Leather Strips and Dirty Denim Strips to Leather and Denim Strips using 1 unit of water for each of them and apply the same method as you do for the Ripped Sheets.

Nonetheless, due to the high density of the Ripped Sheets and the high defense value of the Denim and Leather Strips, it’s advisable to use Denim and Leather Strips for tailoring purposes rather than stopping bleeding.

Not to mention that you can maximize the effect of Ripped Sheets or Bandages by making them Sterilized Bandages and Sterilized Rags.

However, this process requires a heat source and some specific items (Bottle of Disinfectant, for example), which is impractical when you’re in the forest foraging.

Project Zomboid – Does Your Hair Grow? https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-does-your-hair-grow/ https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-does-your-hair-grow/#respond Sat, 11 Nov 2023 09:39:06 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=59017 As you progress in Project Zomboid, you’ll notice various changes in your appearance, such as more injuries, scars, and clothing getting torn and worn. But how about your hair?

Does it become droopy or messy, or does it remain unchanged regardless of how long you survive in Project Zomboid?

Recommended Read: How to Get Dirt in Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, your hair does grow (as does the beard if your character is male). Usually, it takes 5 days to notice the changes in the beard and 20 days for the hair. The hair-growing speed of male and female characters is the same.

Table of Contents

Does Your Hair Grow in Project Zomboid?

In Project Zomboid, which simulates a post-apocalyptic world with realistic survival mechanics, the inclusion of growing hair over time is a noteworthy detail.

In other words, your character will experience hair growth after surviving for a while in Project Zomboid.

Typically, it takes about 5 days to start noticing the beard growth on your male character and more than 20 days for the hair.

To get full-growing hair, you need to survive for more than 2 months. There is also maximum growth for the hair and the beard.

You can select your hairstyle (and beard style if your character is male) while customizing your character after choosing your occupation and traits. Your hair can even grow if you choose the “Bald” hairstyle.

For female characters with long hair selected in the early game, it requires the same duration for the hair to grow, but it’s a bit more challenging to spot.

However, remember that hair growth serves only a cosmetic purpose during your survival, and you can choose whether to keep it or not.

You can check how your character’s hair and beard change by clicking the “Health” menu and selecting the “Info” tab.

From this menu, you can change to other available hair and beard styles, but you’ll need a razor for the beard and scissors for both hair and beard. These tools can be found in the bathrooms or medicine cabinets.

To get a haircut or change your hairstyle, press “H” to open the Health menu and select the “Info” tab. After that, locate and click the “Change” button next to the Hair and Beard section.

The choices available depend on your character’s current hair length.

That’s all you need to know about whether or not hair grows in Project Zomboid.

While obtaining and transporting seeds and water can be done easily, getting dirt is a bit more complicated than you would expect.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to get dirt in Project Zomboid.

In Project Zomboid, getting dirt requires either any type of Shovel (Snow Shovel, Regular Shovel, or Spade Shovel) or the Trowel and the Sack. Once you have the required tools, go outside, right-click on the ground and select “Take Some Dirt”, then choose a tile to dig dirt.

Table of Contents

How to Get Dirt in Project Zomboid

Unlike in real life, you can’t dig the ground and collect dirt with your bare hands in Project Zomboid.

Instead, you need to gather some tools to enable this function first.

The required tools are as follows:

  • Shovel or Trowel: either of these tools is required to till the soil and get the dirt. You can find them in sheds, crates, or warehouses.
  • Sack: a container that is used to store dirt after digging. Sacks can be commonly found in warehouses, garages, grocery stores, and tool stores. Besides, you can get Sacks by pouring out Sand Bags or Grave Bags.

It’s also worth noting that any type of Shovel can be used to get dirt in Project Zomboid, including Snow Shovels, Spade Shovels, and Regular Shovels.

First, make sure the Shovel or Trowel is in your inventory. Alternatively, you can equip it by right-clicking on it and selecting “Equip in Both Hands” (Shovel) or “Equip in Primary” (Trowel).

Go outside and find a safe area with ground and grass. The forests or grass biomes are ideal in this case.

Right-click on the ground and select “Take Some Dirt”, then move the green rectangle to the tile you want to dig and left-click on it.

The sack, after storing dirt, becomes a Dirt Bag. Each sack can contain up to 4 tiles of dirt. Moreover, you can only dig each ground tile once to obtain Dirt.

After getting dirt, you can use it by right-clicking on the ground, selecting “Pour Out Dirt”, and then choosing the tile you want to pour.

Although it has poor durability and average damage, it possesses special abilities and offers a long-range attack. Moreover, Spears are easy to craft and lightweight, making them ideal for backup.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to make a Spear in Project Zomboid.

Recommended Read: How to Place Sheet Rope in Project Zomboid

Crafting a Spear requires either 1 unit of the Tree Branch or the Plank and any type of Knife. To make a Spear in Project Zomboid, you can either right-click on Tree Branches, Planks, or any Knife and select “Create Spear” => “One/All”.

Alternatively, you can click on the hammer and ruler icon on the left side of your screen, or press “B” to open up the Crafting menu, and select the “Survivalist” tab, which displays all possible Spear recipes you can craft. Finally, click “Craft One” or “Craft All” to make a Spear.

Table of Contents

How to Make a Spear in Project Zomboid

Besides being used as a weapon, a Spear can be used for fishing. Therefore, you should craft one not only for defense but also for food gathering purposes.

Crafting a Spear can be done with ease, and the best part is that you can upgrade it into many variants, making it versatile and convenient for survival.

Prerequisite Tools and Materials

Here’s the list of tools and materials you need to craft a Spear in Project Zomboid:

  • Tree Branch: a primary material for crafting a Spear. You can get Tree Branches by chopping trees.
  • Plank: is the other choice in case you don’t have Tree Branches in your inventory. The best way to obtain Planks is by sawing Logs.
  • Knife: is used to shape the Plank/Tree Branch and convert it into the Crafted Spear. Any of the Chipped Stone, Hunting Knife, Kitchen Knife, Machete, Meat Cleaver, and Stone Knife can be used to craft the Spear.
  • Duct Tapes (optional): are required to stick additional attachments to your Crafted Spear. You can find them in cupboards, warehouses, or sheds.
  • Additional Attachments: You can make your Crafted Spear even deadlier by attaching sharpened tools or weapons to it.

There are 13 tools and materials that can be attached to the Crafted Spear, including:

  • Bread Knife
  • Butter Knife
  • Fork
  • Letter Opener
  • Scalpel
  • Spoon
  • Scissors
  • Hand Fork
  • Screwdriver
  • Kitchen Knife
  • Hunting Knife
  • Machete
  • Ice Pick

These tools and weapons are extremely common in Project Zomboid, allowing you to create plenty of different, high-damage spears.

Let’s Make a Spear!

When you have all the required materials and tools in your inventory, you can either right-click on the Tree Branches, Planks, or any type of Knife and select “Create Spear” => “One/All” to make a/several spear(s).

Each action costs you 1 Plank or 1 Tree Branch. If you have both Planks and Tree Branches in your inventory, the Planks are used first.

To attach the additional attachments, ensure you have at least 2 units of Duct Tape in your inventory, which you can verify by checking the remaining line in the item description.

Next, right-click on the Crafted Spear or Duct Tape to view all available additional attachments, then select “Attach Tool/Weapon to Spear”.

You can also view all the possible Spear recipes and craft them via the Crafting menu.

First, press “B” or click on the hammer and ruler on the left side of the screen to bring up the Crafting menu, then choose the “Survivalist” tab.

In the following panel, you’ll see all the eligible Spear recipes. To make a Spear, select the recipe you want and click “Craft One” or “Craft All”.

Keep in mind that the condition and durability of the Spear depend significantly on Carpentry and Maintenance skills. Therefore, it’s advisable to level up these skills first to enhance the quality of the Spear.

Project Zomboid – How to Place Sheet Rope https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-how-to-place-sheet-rope/ https://gamerempire.net/project-zomboid-how-to-place-sheet-rope/#respond Wed, 08 Nov 2023 04:53:17 +0000 https://gamerempire.net/?p=58667 Sheet Rope is one of the most valuable strategic items in Project Zomboid. Using it, you can prevent the undead from ascending to your floor and create a safe, injury-free escape route in a multi-floor building.

With these advantages, how do you properly place Sheet Rope in Project Zomboid?

Recommended Read: How to Cut Down Trees in Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, placing the Sheet Rope requires a Hammer and 1 Nail. First, right-click on the window and select “Open Window” or press “E” when you stay next to it. Then, right-click on the window again and select “Add Escape Sheet Rope (Fabric)”.

Table of Contents

How to Place Sheet Rope in Project Zomboid

In addition to its primary function of descending between floors, you can also use the Sheet Rope to enter the building or stack logs for better transportation.

However, attaching the Sheet Rope to the floor isn’t as straightforward as it may seem. It involves multiple steps and specific materials.

Therefore, let’s explore how to craft Sheet Rope and what are the required materials first!

Prerequisite Tools and Materials

Here is the list of materials and tools you need for crafting and attaching the Sheet Rope in Project Zomboid:

  • Sheet or Clothing: Sheet Rope can be crafted from either sheets or clothing items. Regardless of their condition, it’s advisable to choose old or torn ones.
  • Hammer: you need a Hammer to place the Sheet Rope in the window.
  • Nail: each attempt to attach the Sheet Rope costs 1 Nail.

Once you have the materials, right-click on your pieces of clothing or Sheet and select “Craft Sheet Rope” to make Sheet Rope.

Now, ensure you’ve got at least one Nail and the Hammer, then head to the higher floors (if you’re on the ground) and be ready to place Sheet Rope.

Let’s Place Sheet Rope!

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that you can’t attach the Sheet Rope to a window on the first floor. In other words, the Sheet Rope can only be attached to windows starting from the second floor and above.

Next, ensure that the area around you is free of zombies, as attaching the Sheet Rope creates noise, and the undead can attack you while you’re attaching it.

The Sheet Rope can be attached when the window is opened. In that case, right-click on the window and select “Open Window” or press “E” when you stay next to it.

If the window is locked, you can break it by right-clicking and selecting “Smash Window”.

However, this action creates noise, and the broken pieces of the window can hurt you after descending, especially if you’re walking with your bare feet.

Next, right-click on the window and select “Add Escape Sheet Rope (Fabric)”. If this option is unavailable, you can check out whether you’re in the following cases:

  • You don’t have the Hammer or at least 1 Nail in your inventory.
  • You’re not on the second or above floor.
  • You select a window that is on the side with the first-floor roof. Climbing through that window will lead you to the roof of the first floor instead of descending to the ground.

After that, right-click on the window and select “Climb Through”. Alternatively, you can hold “E” when staying nearby to climb through the Sheet Rope.

You can retrieve the Sheet Rope by right-clicking on it and selecting “Remove Escape Rope”. Although zombies can’t climb through it, they can destroy it.

Additionally, fire can burn the Sheet Rope to ashes, so avoid using Molotov cocktails near the window you intended to use as an exit.

They act as fuel for fires, ingredients for campfires, materials for building structures, and are part of leveling up the Carpentry skill.

One of the fastest methods to obtain wooden materials is by cutting down trees. In this guide, we’ll show you how to cut down trees in Project Zomboid.

How to Cut Down Trees in Project Zomboid

Trees in Project Zomboid are one of the limitless available resources, along with water. Trees have a lot of usage, but you need to cut them down first to take advantage of them.

If you want to bring down a tree, you’ll need a melee weapon or suitable tools. It’s important to note that using bare hands or shooting trees won’t work. So, sticking to melee weapons is the only way to cut trees down.

If you have some tools or melee weapons in your inventory, then you can chop a tree by using either of these methods:

  • Right-click on the tree and select “Cut Down Tree”, then choose the tree you want to chop.
  • Hold the right-click button to enable combat stance, then left-click when you stand near the tree to cut it down. If the tree shakes, then you’re successful.

Each method mentioned above has its own advantages. For example, the first method allows you to select a tree that is farther from your current position, providing better precision.

Cutting down trees makes noise, which can attract nearby zombies. So, the second choice keeps you in a combat position, allowing you to defend yourself if zombies are nearby.

On top of that, not all tools or weapons are equally effective at damaging trees. Some may even deal zero damage, such as Broom, Wrench, Hammer, etc.

You can check out the table below to see the top 10 melee weapons that are most efficient at damaging trees:

#Melee WeaponDamage to Trees
1Wood Axe55
2Barbell55
3Axe35
4Pick Axe35
5Hand Axe15
6Stone Axe15
7Meat Cleaver15
8Sledgehammer10
9Guitar/Keytar10
10Machete10

Our top recommendation for chopping trees is axes, thanks to their high damage output. Given that the HP of a tree is 165, it takes 3 swings to chop it down using the Wood Axe.

To make the most of this task, the Lumberjack occupation is highly recommended. Lumberjacks use axes, which allow them to work 25% faster and deal 50% more damage to trees, making it an optimal choice.

How to Attach Weapon Parts in Project Zomboid

Weapons parts in Project Zomboid refer to additional components that can be attached exclusively to firearms to increase magazine capacity, reduce encumbrance, or enhance precision and effectiveness.

In other words, you can only attach weapon parts if you use firearms or at least have firearms in your inventory.

There are 13 available weapon parts in Project Zomboid. Regardless of the type of firearm, they all follow the same attachment method.

To attach weapon parts to your guns, you’ll need a Screwdriver, which can be found in storage crates, warehouses, and hardware stores. The magazine is the only part that can be equipped without any requirements.

To attach weapon parts in Project Zomboid, right-click on the weapon and select “Upgrade” => “Weapon Part Names”.

This option only shows weapon parts that are compatible with the chosen gun, so you don’t have to worry about missing any of them.

You can attach different weapon parts to a single weapon. For instance, the M16 can have both a Red Dot sight and a Recoil Pad attached simultaneously.

How to Tailor in Project Zomboid

In Project Zomboid, tailoring is the skill that allows you to repair and customize clothing. If your clothes get damaged, or you want to make them better suited for survival, this skill is essential.

To excel in tailoring, you’ll need a high tailoring skill level.

A higher skill level not only increases your chances of retrieving padding or patches but also enhances your ability to restore your clothes to their original condition.

Prerequisite Tools and Materials

Below is the list of tools and materials required to tailor your clothes:

  • Needle: a primary tool to tailor. You can find Needles in medicine cabinets and sewing kits in houses or factories.
  • Thread: is a consumable material in tailoring. You can find Threads in some containers, such as sheds, crates, or bookshelves, but the fastest way to get Threads is to rip off pieces of clothing.
  • Pieces of Clothing: you need as many pieces of clothing as possible to tear them and get Ripped Sheets, Denim Strips, and Leather Strips. These materials are consumable in tailoring.

Remember that you’ll also need Scissors to tear off denim or leather clothes to get Denim Strips or Leather Strips.

Let’s Tailor!

The purpose of tailoring clothes is not only to restore their condition to their origin but also to improve their defensiveness. Therefore, you can tailor even when your clothes are not broken.

First, right-click on each part of your clothes shown in your inventory and select “Inspect”. The next pop-up panel displays the details of your clothing, including condition, body parts, and holes.

  • If there are holes in your clothing, right-click on it and select “Patch Holes” => “Ripped Sheets/Denim Strips/Leather Strips”.
  • For the other parts of your clothes that are not damaged or torn, right-click on each part and select “Add Padding” => “Ripped Sheets/Denim Strips/Leather Strips”.

You can use different materials for each body part or apply them all with the same material by choosing “Add Padding to All Using “Ripped Sheets/Denim Strips/ Leather Strips”.

When you add padding to your clothes, it enhances their defense against various threats like scratches, bites, and even bullets.

However, it’s important to note that while the condition increases at the same rate, the level of defense they offer may vary depending on the material.

Specifically, the Leather Strips offer the best value, but they’re hard to obtain. The Ripped Sheets, on the other hand, are very common, but their base defense addition is unimpressive.

Moreover, you can change the material of the existing patches.

To do this, simply right-click on the specific body part and select “Remove Patch” if you want to remove a single patch or “Remove All Patches” to replace them with new materials.

Remember that the higher the tailoring skill, the higher the chance of getting the materials back.

Last but not least, there are a few types of clothing in Project Zomboid that are not repairable, such as shoes, helmets, firefighter gear, and police and military-style vests.
