As you fight your way through sanctuary, you might sometimes be caught in a pinch between a bunch of powerful enemies.

If you get slain by enemies, all the items that you are currently wearing lose 10 durability (out of 100). When an item reaches 0/100 durability, it no longer gives any stats, so you need to repair it before then to bring up its durability.

To repair gear and weapons in Diablo 4, go to a Blacksmith NPC in any nearby town or camp, select the ‘Repair’ tab at the top, and click the ‘Equipped’ button. This will repair the items that you are currently wearing.

You can also click the ‘All Items’ button to repair all the items that you are currently wearing, as well as the ones in your inventory. Lastly, you can use the hammer icon to individually repair items.

You have two choices to get rid of unwanted equipment and weapons that fill up your inventory in Diablo 4 – sell or salvage.

Salvaging items in the game gives you various materials, and selling items gives you gold, both of which you need for several important purposes.

When you first start playing the game, it’s not intuitive which of the two options is better. Here is what we’ve learned.

In Diablo 4, you should salvage all items for materials in the early game, and towards the end-game, you should start selling almost all items instead.

The reason why you want to salvage gear in the early game and start selling them instead later on is that gear, relatively, is worth more materials early on in the game and, relatively, worth more gold the further into the game you progress, which means they are worth much more gold compared to materials late-game.

While you can exclusively salvage gear early on in the game, as you don’t need much gold then, you cannot exclusively sell items late-game, as you still need some materials. You will, however, need much more gold late-game than materials. Thus, why you should sell almost all gear then.

An additional bonus for prioritizing salvaging items in the early game is that you unlock new transmogs upon salvaging some items.

To open Silent Chests in Diablo 4, you simply need to left-click it while you have a Whispering Key in your inventory. Upon opening the Silent Chest, one Whispering Key will be consumed from your inventory.

If you happen to find a Silent Chest in the game but don’t have a key, you can quickly go back to town and purchase one.

The Silent Chest will remain where you found it until someone opens it, so all you have to hope while you go back to get a key is that no one else happens to come by and open it.

How to find Silent Chests

Silent Chests can appear in the same locations that regular chests can appear around the world of Diablo 4.

To find a Silent Chest in Diablo 4, you need to go to the locations where regular chests spawn and hope that a Silent Chest has appeared instead.

The chance of a Silent Chest appearing instead of a regular one is very low. We once tried to find one, and we ended up opening more than 50 chests and didn’t even find a Silent Chest. Then at a later time, we randomly stumbled upon one.

When you’ve fought your way through a long dungeon in Diablo 4, the last thing you want to do is walk all the way back.

Like in previous Diablo games, you can leave the dungeon much faster than walking by using teleports. However, if you’ve just started playing Diablo 4, you might not know where the leave dungeon teleport is located in the UI.

The main way to leave dungeons in Diablo 4 is by using the “Leave Dungeon” button, which you can access by pressing ‘E’ on your keyboard and clicking the “Leave Dungeon” button in the wheel menu.

After pressing this button, your character starts charging up a teleportation, and you’ll be teleported to the entrance of the dungeon you’re in after a short while.

For some reason, you can’t always use the “Leave Dungeon” button to teleport back out of the dungeon, like after you’ve defeated Neyrelle’s Mother’s summonings.

In some dungeons in the game, you cannot use the “Leave Dungeon” button, in which case you have to use one of the following methods:

• Teleport to a waypoint on the map
• Press ‘T’ to use town teleportation
• Use a dedicated item or teleporter at the end of the dungeon

To teleport to a waypoint on the map, simply open the map by pressing Tab, select Sanctuary: Estuar under “WORLD MAP” on the bottom-left side, and double-click any waypoint you’ve claimed.

The town teleportation skill can be used by pressing ‘T’ on your keyboard and will teleport you to the nearest town.

The last method to leave dungeons in the game is to use the dedicated leave/teleport item or portal located inside the end of the dungeon. However, only a few dungeons in the game have these.

After your first boss encounter in the ruins at the start of the game, for example, you can use the rope to teleport back. In a later instance in the Fractured Peak zone, you can use a dedicated teleporter portal to go back to Neyrelle inside a dungeon.

An exception to how the weapon-swapping system works in Diablo 4 is the Barbarian class.

Like the other classes, the Barbarian will automatically swap to the different weapons it has when you use specific skills. However, the Barbarian has the unique option to choose what type of weapon it wants to use for some of its skills.

To change what weapon you wish to use for skills that allow you to choose yourself as a Barbarian, open the skills menu by pressing “S”, hover over the skills you wish to change weapon type for, and click the middle mouse button (click down the scroll wheel). Not all quests in Diablo 4 give you precise guidance on how to proceed. One of them is the Secret of the Spring sidequest in the Fractured Peaks zone.

The only information you receive from the Discarded Note that gives the quest is a riddle and a location on the map. On top of that, there is a specific UI-related action you need to do before you can complete it.

Here are the exact steps on how to complete the quest Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4:

1. After accepting the quest, go down the stairs right above the Discarded Note.
2. Follow the northeast path until the road splits in two.
3. When the road splits in two, keep going north instead of taking the right or left road.
4. You will reach a small pond just a few seconds after you head north from the crossroad. Stop there.
5. Press “E” on your keyboard to open the emote wheel and click the “Customize” button.
6. In the window that opens on the right side of the screen, scroll down in the “Emotes” tab until you see the “Wait” emote.
7. Click the “Wait” emote and then select a slot in the emote wheel below to add it to. You can use the arrows on both sides to access the additional emote wheel tabs.
8. Once you’ve added it to a slot, click the “Save Changes” button below.
9. Now, close the emotes menu.
10. Press “E” on your keyboard once again to open the emote wheel and use the “Wait” emote in front of the pond.
11. A Buried Chest will now appear above the pond.
