How to Get a Cowboy Hat in Destiny 2
There is one thing in Destiny 2 that PvE and PvP players will agree on, and that is fashion. Fashion, for many players, is the true endgame of Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 does a good job of letting players customize their characters. Finding the right Ornaments and armor pieces to create the look you want is a real goal that keeps many players logging into the game every day.
While some players want to look like a Transformer or space dinosaur, others are more concerned with fashioning their characters after classic movie themes. One of the most popular themes, of course, is cowboys.
Players have waited a long time for a set of armor that truly gives them that Wild West aesthetic.
There have been many Ornaments that came close, but nothing compares to the armor pieces that were introduced with the Spire of the Watcher Dungeon.
This Dungeon has a slew of Tex Machina weapons and armor pieces that are perfect for those looking to play dress up.
While these armor sets look great and offer a new way to personalize your characters, many players only care about the cowboy hats.
These cowboy hats are known as the TM-Cogburn Custom Cover Helmet for Titans, the TM-Moss Custom Hat Helmet for Warlocks, and the Hunter will need the TM-Earp Custom Cloaked Stetson Cloak for their cowboy hat. Each of these armor pieces drops randomly from the Spire of the Watcher Dungeon.
The Spire of the Watcher Dungeon is available to players who have purchased the Witch Queen Deluxe Edition DLC. If you do not own the Deluxe Edition, you will need to purchase the Dungeon Key DLC, which unlocks access to Spire of the Watcher and the Duality Dungeon.
Once you have access to the Dungeon, you will simply head to the Map of Savathun’s Throne World to find it and start completing runs until you get your cowboy hat to drop.
It is completely random and can drop from any of the three chests inside of the Dungeon.
Keep in mind that, unless you are extremely lucky, it will take you quite a few completions before you get your cowboy hat to drop.
Many, many players have reported on the low drop rate of these armor pieces, with some players not receiving their cowboy hats until well after their 300th run of the Dungeon.
Because of this, players have had to get creative in finding the fastest farming method for the Spire of the Watcher Dungeon.
They have found that, whether you are solo or with a full Fireteam of three, it is optimal to complete only the first encounter of the Dungeon before backing out and restarting instead of continuing onto the second or last encounter.
The final Boss encounter can be lengthy, especially if you do not have a Fireteam that can kill the Boss in a single damage phase. In this case, it is more efficient to rely on the first encounter for your loot drops.
Because the first encounter does not contain any sort of Boss or damage check, the average player should have no issue solo farming it. All you need to do is complete the electrical node puzzles and not fall off of the map.
Spire of the Watcher offers repeatable rewards throughout the week, meaning you can get an infinite amount of loot drops from the Dungeon without ever having to wait for the weekly reset.
This is basically mandatory to offset the very low drop chance of the one item players want from this Dungeon.
Players who do manage to get their cowboy hat to drop may be unfortunate enough to get a bad stat roll on their new armor piece. Luckily, stats are not what we are looking for in this Helmet.
After you have unlocked a piece of armor in Destiny 2 for the first time, it will become available for you to unlock as an Ornament that you can then equip to any armor piece of the same type to change its appearance.
This allows you to turn your very best Helmet into a cowboy hat while keeping its stats intact.
This will require a Synthweave Material which can only be obtained from Ada-1 Bounties. Luckily, these bounties are fairly simple to complete.

It goes over the basics of using Ornaments and how to obtain the materials needed to turn your newly-unlocked cowboy Helmet into an Ornament.
Now, get out there and start farming for your cowboy hat! I wish you luck because you are going to need it.
