How to Get Forbearance in Destiny 2
Forbearance is one of the many great weapons to come out of the Witch Queen Expansion. It was quickly picked up by many Guardians and continues to be considered one of the greatest Legendary weapons in the game to this day.
To get Forebearance, you will need to complete the Vow of the Disciple Raid. Specifically, it drops from the third encounter, the Caretaker Boss fight, and the final Boss fight with Rhulk.
If you don’t want to run the entire Raid just for two chances at getting a Forbearance, you can always look for a team that has the checkpoint to either of these encounters and just farm that checkpoint.
Remember that Raids only rewards you with drops on your first run every week per character.
This means that you will have a grand total of six chances to get a Forbearance drop every week if you run the Raid on all three of your characters.
In the event that Vow of the Disciple is the Featured Raid of the week, you will be able to farm these encounters an unlimited number of times in hopes of getting a Forbearance to drop.
Sadly, these are both long Boss encounters that are not quick or easy to farm. You will want to get with a decent Fireteam in order to even attempt these encounters if you want a chance at getting a Forbearance drop.
These drops are random, however, meaning you are not guaranteed to get a Forbearance on your first, second, or even your tenth Raid clear.
You are more likely to receive armor pieces than a Forbearance based on the number of drops in the Raid loot table.
After you get a single Forbearance to drop, you can purchase additional rolls from the Boss Chest that spawns after defeating Rhulk.
This will cost Spoils of Conquest that you can earn simply by completing Raid encounters in any Raid in Destiny 2.
Purchasing Forbearance drops is your best chance at receiving one with a good roll of Perks. If you are lucky, you will even find one with a red border.
Forbearance, just like every other Raid weapon in Vow of the Disciple, is craftable. If you find five red border variants then you can unlock its crafting pattern and create your very own god roll.
For experienced end-game players, there is an Adept variant of Forbearance available to anyone who completes the Master difficulty version of Vow of the Disciple.
This Adept variant comes with a bump to base stats as well as an Adept Mod slot and upgraded aesthetics.
It is also worth mentioning that the Vow of the Disciple Raid is only available to players who own the Witch Queen Expansion.
If you do not see the Raid appearing on your Map, then you most likely do not own the Witch Queen Expansion DLC.
Is Forbearance Worth It?
Forbearance is one of those weapons that just about every veteran player of Destiny 2 has in their Loadouts.
It has become a staple for ad clearing and is the baseline comparison that new weapons have to beat if they are going to be worth consideration.
Forbearance is a Legendary Arc Wave Frame Grenade Launcher that shoots a projectile that becomes an elemental wave upon impact, traveling along the ground and damaging anyone in its path.
Wave Frame Grenade Launchers are notorious for their efficient ad clearing.
Forbearance goes a step further with some very, very potent Perks. The Chain Reaction Perk will cause every final blow to explode and deal elemental damage to any enemies nearby.
You can imagine how powerful this Perk can be when used on a Wave Frame Grenade Launcher.
A single shot will not only kill any Minor enemies in a straight line but will also take out any enemies that are bunched up to either side of your initial shot, causing a literal chain reaction of kills.
This Perk alone is great and is the true star that makes Forbearance such a good weapon. It gets better when you add Ambitious Assassin to the mix.
This Perk will overflow the magazine if you reload shortly after scoring multiple kills with the weapon.
This usually means that you will have two shots ready at all times on Forbearance, allowing you to spread the love through the battlefield.
This combination of Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction is considered the single best Perk combination found on Wave Frame Grenade Launchers today. No other Grenade Launcher is quite as stacked as this one.
These Perks also play perfectly into the Origin Trait of Forbearance, Souldrinker. This Trait grants you healing based on the amount of enemies hit before reloading.
So not only does Forbearance deal with a lot of enemies very efficiently, but it also keeps you alive while doing it. There isn’t much more you could ask for from a Special weapon.
If you are unlucky with your rolls, you can always replace Ambitious Assassin with Surplus for additional reload speed or Unrelenting for even more health regeneration effects, though Chain Reaction is a must for this weapon.
As far as PvP goes, this weapon doesn’t have any rolls that are worth much consideration.
When it comes to crafting the perfect roll, you will want to use the Quick Launch Barrel for Handling and Grenade Velocity, High-Velocity Rounds for even more Velocity and Reload Speed, then the god combo of Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction.
As far as Masterworks go, it is down to personal preference. The player base is split between using a Reload Speed, Velocity, Blast Radius, or a Handling Masterwork.
Overall, Forbearance is an iconic weapon that seems to be here to stay in the meta.
It has been the go-to wave clearing Special weapon for far too long and is a solid pick if you are trying to flesh out your Loadouts in preparation for The Final Shape Expansion.
You are now ready to go and get your own Forbearance drop. I hope your luck is better than mine!
