What to Do with Amethyst in Minecraft?
Currently, there are 5 blocks involving amethyst in Minecraft.
They’re Block of Amethyst, Budding Amethyst, Small/Medium/Large Amethyst Buds, and Amethyst Clusters.
Let’s see what you can do with each of them!
- Decoration and building
All amethyst in Minecraft can be used for decoration or building purposes. Block of amethyst and budding amethyst are particularly great since they’re full block height.
With the purple and sparkling texture, surely those amethyst blocks can play a huge role in any fantasy builds! So if you’re planning to build a fairy village, amethyst blocks are essential.
You can place the amethyst buds or amethyst clusters on any blocks to decorate your house evermore! But be careful that the amethyst buds can grow and turn into clusters if you place them on the budding amethyst block.
- Crafting
To craft with amethyst, you must find the amethyst geodes and mine the amethyst cluster with your pickaxe. Normally, each cluster will drop 2 amethyst shards, up to 16 shards with Fortune III enchantment.
You can then place the amethyst buds on the budding amethyst blocks again to farm the amethyst shards.
With 4 amethyst shards, you can craft 1 block of amethyst.
One amethyst shard and 2 copper ingots will give you a spyglass.
Finally, one glass block in the middle and 4 amethyst around it will give you 2 tinted glass blocks.
- Lightsource
While a light level of 15 is the highest in Minecraft, a small amethyst bud can give a light level of 1. The medium bud gives 2, and the large bud amethyst gives 4 light levels. The final stage of an amethyst bud, which is an amethyst cluster, will give a light level of 5.
Compared to the 14 light level of a torch or 13 of a smelting furnace, amethyst blocks provide enough light to prevent hostile mobs from spawning.
That’s why it’s a great idea to use them for both building and lighting purposes!
- Create sound
All amethyst blocks in Minecraft have the fun sound of a wind chime when placed, broken, or stepped on. In general, it’s mostly used to build the magical pathway between your rooms for more effect!
