If you found the “too many held Duchies” warning in your Situations menu of CK3, then you need to fix it as fast as possible.
The description for the warning says that a king or an emperor is not allowed to hold more than two Duchies.
Every duchy over two will lower the opinion of all your vassals in CK3. Each duchy will lose the opinion of your vassals by 15.
This means that if you are a king and hold 5 duchies, you will have a natural -45 opinion debuff with all of your vassals. The effect of the “too many held Duchies” debuff is infinite. There is no limit to how much opinion you can lose with your vassals.
Such a high amount of opinion debuff will surely bring you a lot of hostile plots and factions. Luckily, fixing this situation is quite easy, but you will lose some power doing it.
To fix the “too many held Duchies” warning in CK3, you will need to give the extra duchies to someone else.
It doesn’t matter who it is as long as it isn’t your current player character. To do this, find someone that you would like to give the title (someone with the Content or Trusting traits or a family member) and right-click them.
Now, go down to “Grant Titles” and give that person one of your duchies.
You should also know that, depending on your laws of succession, you will most likely not be able to give the extra duchies to your main heir.
This mechanic exists so players don’t cheat the succession system and keep their kingdoms together by giving their main heir all of their extra territories.
Can You Have Too Many Kingdoms in Crusader Kings 3?
Good news for all CK3 players, there is no warning for having too many kingdoms. On the other hand, there is a really high chance that you will lose the kingdoms anyway if you don’t become an emperor before your death.
