When you first play Deep Rock Galactic and complete your first-ever mission in the game, you will notice there is more than one number increased below your dwarf.
In DRG, there are two types of levels: blue and red. Although the blue level is increased much slower than the red one, it doesn’t reset occasionally.
In this article, let’s see what is the blue level in Deep Rock Galactic and its benefit. Let’s go, miners!

The blue level in DRG is your player level (or player rank). This level is tied to your account save file and is not reset often, compared to the red level. Each time you do a promotion or level up a red level, the blue level will be increased by 1/3. And there is no limitation for the blue level at all!

What Is the Blue Level in Deep Rock Galactic
First of all, you can keep track of your blue level in the top right corner of the screen when you’re on the Space Rigs. Besides that, you can also see your Credits and blank matrix cores.
The blue level in Deep Rock Galactic has 3 segments, and to level up, you have to fill all 3 of them. Each segment can be increased by leveling up your red level and doing promotions.
So if you manage to increase your character level (the red level) by one, your blue level will increase by 1/3. And if you level up your character 3 times, your blue level will be increased by 1. Easy as that!
Although at first glance, leveling up your blue level in DRG is slower, it’s still satisfying to watch that number go up non-stop. Compared to the red level, which has a maximum of 25 levels and must be reset in order to level up once again.
Moreover, the blue level is counted across all of your classes, while the red level is tied to each specific class. This means that, one way or another, your blue level will become higher than your red one very soon!
Since the red level has a cap, you can’t actually show that off to your friends or other beautiful dwarfs. But it’s a different story with the blue level.
The longer you play, the higher your blue level is. It may be 10, 80, 150, 1,300, or even 10,000!
Besides the show-off purpose, leveling your blue level also grants you new assignments to unlock new pickaxe and armor skins, plus a new rank title to display right under your name.
For now, you can have new assignments when reaching the blue levels 5, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 100. But hopefully, in the future, Ghost Ship Games will add more assignments for greybeards.
In addition, dwarfs with higher blue levels will make the game easier since they have enough experience and weapons to fight the wave of bugs. Plus, some dwarfs would prefer miners with blue level 100+ to join their lobby since they’re playing on Hazard 5 difficulty.
So we’ve explained what is the blue level in Deep Rock Galactic.
We’re all greenbeards at the beginning. But don’t let that stop you. Because if you don’t rock and stone, you ain’t coming home! Happy leveling, miners!
