In Final Fantasy XIV, you can summon your Chocobo to fight with you. They are your companion, and they have a unique level that you can increase by using this feature.
Gysahl Greens are the food you need to feed your Chocobo to summon him to fight with you. This is not how you summon him to ride, as that does not require any food.

Where to Buy Gysahl Greens in FFXIV
Gysahl Greens may not be necessary in FFXIV, but keeping a stack in your inventory is highly recommended. Otherwise, you won’t be able to summon your Chocobo to fight with you.
Luckily, at any given time, you’ll be within walking distance of a vendor that sells Gysahl Greens.
Marketboard
Although it’s not recommended, you can buy Gysahl Greens on the Marketboard.
They are usually extremely overpriced, but occasionally, you can buy them for less than the vendor’s price, so it’s worth checking out if you plan to buy a large amount.
