Final Fantasy XIV offers 20 jobs, most with a starter class that leads to the job. However, the system to change class is not the same as other MMOs.
In other MMOs, you pick your class when you make your character. But in FFXIV, one character can be every class.

To change class in FFXIV, do the first class quest and equip the weapon. If the class is a job (level 30 and above), then you also must equip the soul crystal. After that, all that’s left to do is change your armor and make a gear set to ensure it’s easy to switch back.

How to Change Class in Final Fantasy XIV
Changing class in Final Fantasy XIV is easy. All you have to do is equip the weapon, and voila, you are that class. But there’s a little more to it if you want to charge into battle.
Unlock the Class
Before you can change your class, you have to unlock it. Classes are unlocked by finishing the first quest in the class questline.
The starter classes begin at level 1, while others begin at 30, 50, 60, and 70. So, getting one of these classes gives you another job you can do mid-game content with right off the bat.
Equip the Weapon (and soul crystal)
Each class beginner quest grants you a weapon for that class. Equip it by going to your armory chest, right-click, and equip.
Once you equip the weapon, you are that class. For jobs that are level 30 and above classes, you must also equip a soul stone.
The soul crystal has its own equipment slot. Head to the soul crystal section in your armory chest to equip the class soul crystal, which goes by the same name as the job.
Equip Armor
You don’t need armor to be each class, but armor doesn’t cross over all classes. So before you enter a duty, make sure you have armor equipped.
The best way to ensure you have the best armor equipped is to open your character menu. Then click the “Recommended Gear” button.
If you are missing any pieces, buy them on the marketboard or continue your class quests for appropriate armor.
Making Changing Classes Easy
The above method always works, but it’s annoying to do it every time. Instead, you can make gear sets to speed things up.
To make a gear set, open your character menu. Then, click on the piece of paper icon above your character.
You should do this while you have the ideal gear equipped for said class. Then, click on the plus sign to create a new set.
The process automatically assigns everything you’re wearing to a new gear set. You can make up to 100 sets.
You can add the set to your hotbar or go back to the menu to change to the gear set at any time you’re not in a duty or in combat.
A good practice is to keep at least one set for every class, including hand and land jobs. Every time you get new best in slot gear, click on the set and press Update Gear Set.
You can even have multiple gear sets for one class or multiple of the same set with different glamour. Though the latter is tricky to accomplish.
Now you know how to change your class in FFXIV.
