How to Make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley

To make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley, you will need two things:

  • Truffle
  • Oil Maker

Just craft the Oil Maker, place it somewhere on your farm, insert a Truffle inside the machine, and wait 6 hours for Truffle Oil to come out.

How to Get Truffles in Stardew Valley

The main ingredient that you need to get to make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley is Truffle. There is only one way to get Truffles in Stardew Valley, and it will cost you a lot of money.

To get Truffles in Stardew Valley, you will need a Deluxe Barn and Pigs.

The Deluxe Barn is the last upgrade you can get for the Barn, and you can’t actually purchase Pigs unless you have one of these on the farm.

Once you upgrade the Barn into a Deluxe Barn, go to Marnie’s Ranch and purchase a few Pigs.

Each Pig will be worth 16,000 g, which can be quite a lot in the earlier days of the game. They will be piglets when you get them, so you will need to feed them every day for 10 days until they grow up.

After those 10 days pass and the piglet matures, you will start seeing Truffles pop up when you leave the Pig to wander outside of the Barn. That is how the Pig produces Truffles.

You will need to leave it to walk around outside, and it will randomly drop Truffles.

Each Pig should produce at least one Truffle each day, so getting more of them would make the whole process a lot faster and more profitable.

Normal quality Truffles are already worth 625 g, so that is already amazing. However, turning it into Truffle Oil will make it worth at least 1,065 g.

Truffles are considered forageables, not animal products, so their quality is based on your Foraging skill.

If you get the Botanist profession, all Truffles will be Iridium quality, which is worth 1,250 g. If you go down this route, you can sell Truffles directly without turning them into Oil.

How to Get an Oil Maker in Stardew Valley

The second part of the Truffle Oil-making process in Stardew Valley is the Oil Maker. This is a piece of equipment that you will unlock once you get to level 8 Farming.

The materials you will need to craft the Oil Maker once you reach level 8 Farming are:

  • 50x Slime
  • 20x Hardwood
  • 1x Gold Bar

There is no other way to get the Oil Maker in Stardew Valley. You will have to craft it.

Players can also process normal Oil in the Oil Maker if they insert Corn, Sunflower Seeds, or Sunflowers into the machine.

However, Oil is only worth 100 g, compared to the huge amount Truffle Oil is worth, which is 1,065 g.

Still, Oil is used in a lot of cooking recipes, so it is a very important item.

What to Do with Truffle Oil

There are three things players can do with Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley:

  • Sell it
  • Gift it
  • Use it for the Artisan Bundle in the Community Center
  • Craft the Rain Totem

Selling Truffle Oil

The main reason why most players would make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley is to sell it.

However, as we’ve shown above, you can actually make more money just by getting the Botanist profession and directly selling Iridium Truffles.

Still, if you aren’t that good in Foraging and would like to double the money from your Pig investment, then Truffle Oil is the way to go.

Since it only takes 6 hours for the Truffle Oil to process, you also don’t lose any days selling your Truffles.

Gifting Truffle Oil

Truffle Oil is actually a very popular gift for most of the villagers in Pelican Town.

Almost all of the characters in Stardew Valley like Truffle Oil. Still, giving villagers such an expensive gift only for them to just like it can be a bit underwhelming.

Harvey loves Truffle Oil, so he can be an option you could consider for gifting. Also, avoid giving this to Sebastian and the kids since they all hate it.

Complete the Artisan Bundle

The Artisan Bundle in the Pantry of the Community Center requires 6 items out of a relatively long list.

Truffle Oil is one of those items. However, it might be a better idea to just grow all the Fruit Tree types and complete it that way.

Still, if you’ve gone through the trouble of making Truffle Oil, it would be a good idea to give one to the Community Center and work on completing all of the Bundles faster.

Crafting the Rain Totem

Truffle Oil is an ingredient in a single crafting recipe in Stardew Valley. It can only be used to craft a Rain Totem.

To craft the Rain Totem, you will need Foraging level 9, 1x Hardwood, 5x Pine Tar, and 1x Truffle Oil.

The Rain Totem will allow you to make sure that the next day you will have rainy weather. Though this might not sound good for a Pig farmer in Stardew Valley, it can be useful under some circumstances.

Pigs can only go outside to forage Truffle when the weather is clear, so rain will stop them from leaving the Barn.
