In Stardew Valley, players will spend a lot of time in the Mines, trying to get the best possible ores to craft and build everything they need on the farm.
However, while they are searching for the Copper, Iron, Gold, and Iridium ores, there will be many other items that come out and right into their inventory that many might not know how to use.

Diamonds are the most expensive gem (after the Prismatic Shard) in Stardew Valley and you might want to know what you can do with it besides sell it.
Players in Stardew Valley can use their Diamonds to upgrade weapons at the Forge, gift them to many of the villagers who love them, use them to craft Fairy Dust or complete Fish Pond quests.

What to Do with Diamonds in Stardew Valley
There are actually quite a lot of things you can do with Diamonds in Stardew Valley:
- Gift it
- Upgrade Weapons
- Craft Items with it
- Complete quests
- Trade it for Triple Shot Espresso
- Sell it
Gifting it
Diamonds are a universally liked gift in Stardew Valley. This means that absolutely everyone likes it and you will get 45 friendship points (close to 15% of a heart) with a villager that gets it.
There are also 8 villagers who love Diamonds, which means that you will get 80 friendship points (close to 30% of a heart) with them:
If you make sure to always have a few Diamonds ready for their birthdays, you will get at least 2 hearts with them just by gifting them this item at the right time.
Giving a loved gift to someone on their birthday will get you 640 friendship points, which is huge.
Upgrading Weapons
If you’ve finished your first or second year in Pelican Town and have already discovered Ginger Island, then there is something great you can do there with the help of Diamonds.
At the Forge, hidden at the end of the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island, players can upgrade their weapons’ stats using gems. Each gem will upgrade a different stat. For example, a Ruby will increase the damage of a weapon.
There are 6 types of upgrades you can give your weapons and each weapon can only get a total of 3 upgrades. The Diamond is special because you can use it to give your weapon a random upgrade.
Though you lose the choice of upgrading whatever you want for your weapon, you don’t have to worry about how your weapon evolves each time.
Here are the 6 types of upgrades your weapon can get and the gems you would have to use to get them specifically:
- Amethyst – +1 Knockback per Upgrade
- Aquamarine – +4.6% Critical hit chance per Upgrade
- Emerald – +2 Weapon Speed per Upgrade
- Jade – +10% Critical hit damage per Upgrade
- Ruby – +10% Damage per Upgrade
- Topaz – +1 Defense per Upgrade
Crafting Items
There are three items you can craft in Stardew Valley using Diamonds:
- Geode Crusher
- Fairy Dust
- Ring of Yoba
The Geode Crusher is a special item you can craft by completing a Special Order for Gus which allows you to open Geodes without having to go to the Blacksmith each time.
It works a lot like the Furnace, so you might have to craft more than one if you tend to spend a lot of time in dungeons.
The Fairy Dust is an item that allows Furnaces, Kegs, and other processing stations to instantly finish what they are doing.
The recipe for Fairy Dust is hard to get as you need to have reached Ginger Island first, but it is worth the effort.
Fairy Dust is the closest thing players will get to cheats as it will allow them to instantly get all the Wine and Ingots they want instantly just by using this item.
The Ring of Yoba is a ring that will occasionally protect you from damage. It’s not that good compared to other equipment rings you can get, so you don’t really need to craft this one.
Completing Quests
There are two types of quests in Stardew Valley that may require Diamonds:
- Help Wanted Quests
- Fish Pond Quests
At the Help Wanted board in front of Pierre’s Store, players can find quests that will want you to give a Diamond for 2,250 g and 150 friendship points. This is a great bargain since you would normally sell the Diamond for 750 g.
Fish Ponds will give you special quests each time you want to increase their maximum population.
Here are the Fish Ponds in Stardew Valley that might ask you to give them Diamonds, and the amount they would want:
- Catfish – 1 Diamond
- Lava Eel – 2 Diamonds
- Rainbow Trout – 1 Diamond
- Spook Fish – 1 Diamond
- Sturgeon – 1 Diamond
- Super Cucumber – 1 Diamond
- Void Salmon – 1 Diamond
Trading it
Another really useful thing you can do with Diamonds in Stardew Valley is trade them for Triple Shot Espressos at the Desert Trader.
The Desert Trader is a special merchant in the Calico Desert that will trade you items for gems, minerals, and monster loot.
The Triple Shot Espresso gives you a +1 Speed buff that will allow you to move a lot faster than normal. With +1 to your Speed, you would move almost as fast as you would on a horse.
Selling it
If you don’t want to do any of the things listed above, then you can just sell your Diamonds for 750 g. Players who also love selling gems can get the Gemologist profession, which will increase the sell price by 30%.
With that profession, you can sell Diamonds for 974 g.
That’s everything you need to know about what to do with Diamonds in Stardew Valley!
