Stardew Valley – How to Get to Ginger Island

You are currently viewing Stardew Valley – How to Get to Ginger Island

Though you get to do many things in Stardew Valley, at heart, it is still a farming simulator. Many forget this as they pursue romantic relationships with some of the most interesting characters in Pelican Town or when they fight demonic creatures in the deep Skull Cavern.

However, farming can be a bit annoying back in Pelican Town, as seasons change all the time, and you might want to plant those extremely profitable Strawberries every season and not only in Spring.

Luckily, there is a fantastic place where you can plant whatever types of crops you want no matter the season, as the climate there is always perfect. Ginger Island is a tropical island that you can turn into a beach resort where you can plant crops no matter the season and have fun doing it.

To get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, players will first need to complete the Community Center Bundles. After that, you will also have to repair Willy’s boat and pay 1k g to travel to Ginger Island and get your new beach farm.

How to Get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley

To unlock the quest to get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, you will first need to either complete all of the Community Center Bundles or the JojaMart Community Development Projects.

After you watch the celebration event and rejoice at the fact that either JojaMart or the Community Center are dead and gone, you will get a letter in the mail from Willy talking about a back room in his shop.

Players can access this back room by entering his shop and going through the door on the Northern side of the building.

If you go to his shop and enter the back room, you will get an event where he will tell you that if the boat could be fixed, you could get to the Fern Islands.

So, to get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, you will need to fix Willy’s boat in the back room of his shop. Unfortunately, you will need a lot of resources to do this.

Fixing Willy’s Boat

To get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, you will need to:

  • Repair the Boat Hull – 200 Hardwood
  • Repair the Anchor – 5 Iridium Bars
  • Repair the Ticket Machine – 5 Battery Packs

Once you provide all of these high-level items to the boat, you will have to wait one night for Willy and Robin to actually fix everything up.

You will have to manually place all of these items in the back room, so make sure to go there and fix your only way to Ginger Island.

The next day you will receive a letter from Willy saying that you can finally start visiting Ginger Island using his boat, starting from 8 AM. This is the new time he opens the shop now that the boat is fixed since he used to open it at 9 AM.

Getting to Ginger Island

To actually get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, you will need to enter Willy’s Shop between 8 AM and 5 PM and buy a ticket from the ticket machine in the back room.

A ticket will cost 1k g, and you will have to give it every time you want to take the boat from Pelican Town to Ginger Island. There is no fee when you want to go back.

Once you pay the boat fare for the first time, you will get a little dialogue line from Willy being proud of the boat, and then you will get a cutscene where you will see your journey from the docks to Ginger Island.

When you dock on Ginger Island, there won’t be any interesting cutscenes from the start. You will actually have to start exploring to find what secrets this special location holds.

How Ginger Island Works in Stardew Valley

Players will probably be a bit confused with how Ginger Island works when they first get there, as everything is very different from Pelican Town.

The first thing that you should get used to is that Gs are not the main currency here.

Though you will get to use them as you start developing the island, the main currency on Ginger Island is Golden Walnuts.

You will find these Golden Walnuts all over the place, and you will have to give them to parrots to gain access to new regions of the island.

If you want to get to the special Ginger Island farm, where crops grow no matter the season, then you will need to find 10 Golden Walnuts to move the turtle to the Western side of the Island.

There are five NPC residents of Ginger Island that you will have to find one by one, as most of them don’t interact with each other. You can also befriend one of them and even convince them to move into Pelican Town.

That’s everything you need to know about how to get to Ginger Island in Stardew Valley!
